Spoke me.

Spokes;

In the wheel building discussions that I’ve read here on the FG forum, I hear very little about what spokes to use on wheels. I’m having two wheels built: 32 count. I’m wondering what spokes are preferable and what spokes are not.. Flat spokes versus regular, and the like. Thanks for your help.

I like DT competitions, but I'm happy enough with 14ga straight, too.

DT or Wheelsmith. As for bladed spokes, that's pretty much fashion. I don't believe there's any evidence that they actually affect your aero profile. Maybe someone else has some info on this...

I build with straight gauge even though butted spokes are more resilient. Whatever 2.0mm works out, I believe. Is that 14ga? I think 1.8mm is 15, right?

I'm almost done building a wheel with DT straight gauge 14s. Seems pretty beefy. I do prefer Butted spokes, though.

Right both times.

Sapim CX-Rays for that blinging indestructability factor.
if you're made of $$$ though.

stick with 14g rears, and 14/15 butted fronts. DT, Wheelsmith, whatever.
