YES, you CAN use a fg with a trainer. it works just fine as long as you are able to adjust resistance, and as long as it isnt something like a computrainer or electric thingy.

i actually just got a trainer for xmas and in all the pics(directions) it shows a qr skewer and one actualy came with the trainer, i intend to use my fixie on the trainer and i have set it up once, but takes forever to tighten. i dont know if i trust it yet.

Keep an eye on Nashbar for sub $150 fluid trainers, I got mine for closer to a hondo a year ago on sale

Nashbar just told me their fluid trainer will not work with track nuts and requires a quick release.

I have Kreitler rollers in my office and use my FG on it. It tucks behind my desk and take a few seconds to set up. 15-20 minutes before heading home usually does the trick if I'm feeling any stress.
It takes more concentration and balance than riding outside.
