Do you bagaboo?

I've been looking at bags and I just found the Bagaboo website through a forum search. I couldn't find a lot of info on them so I wanted your guys opinion. Are the good bags? How do they compare wih chrome and pac bags?

kennethalan 10-08-05 10:28 PM

Make your own.

cabana 4 life 10-09-05 12:19 AM

i just ordered the pebble for my girlfriend .ill check it out if i like ill order a bigger, bag the xl bag is only 77 us dollars. the price is right. ill report back when i get it

travsi 10-09-05 07:57 AM

i got the messenger large. it was 100 euros with shipping and a few extras. i really like the strap (chrome-like) and design of the bag. its well made and its custom. the only thing is i would ask for an extra layer on the bottom or something to protect the corners of the bag, i'm sure it would be no problem. it seems like they are the first thing to go.

zelah 10-09-05 08:50 AM

DANG! just went to their site, i'm pretty impressed! do you know how much they charge for patterns or lettering?

ps these bags are freaking HUGE

travsi 10-09-05 09:05 AM

i'm not sure what he charges for complicated lettering and patterns. i just have one vertical stripe. but you can send him a .pdf or .jpg file showing him what you want the bag to look like and then he can probably quote you a price.

Throw me a PM if you have any communication issues with the guy. He's Hungarian, so I can translate if need be. I don't have first hand info on the bags except that local messengers like'em a lot.

travsi 10-09-05 09:37 AM

lófarkas, if you're a local, why aren't you rockin a bagaboo?

mr_tom 10-09-05 10:58 AM

I have one of the Bagaboo Messenger Sorters. It's great for those short trips in the summer when you don't want a f#cking huge bag on your back.

It's well made - the seams are solid and the materials seem pretty hardwearing. And Tamas is a really helpful and friendly chap.

lildave 10-09-05 01:50 PM

I almost ordered a Bagaboo. Tamas is really nice and easy to deal with -- no communication/language problems whatsoever. For a moderately complicated full-bag design, I think large or x large bag, he was asking me 135usd, which, in my opinion, is crazy cheap. I personally just didn't have the time or money to cover wire-transfer fees from america (only $19, really) and then still have to wait for a bag to be made and finally arrive in the mail.

rvabiker 10-09-05 02:01 PM

where'd you get the $135 price from? Its like 64 Euros on his site and that comes out to like $75.

zelah 10-09-05 05:55 PM

i'm guessing from all the added bits, i'm definatly going to get the compression straps and back pad if i go with the XL

Woo-hoo, accented characters!

I don't use one 'cos I'm not a messenger, nor a messenger look-alike. I rock a backpack. But if I ever start messing, Bagaboo's got an order...

zelah 10-10-05 05:00 AM

psh, you think 98% of messenger bag wearers messenger? we're all huge pantcuffing posers, its the american way!

oh ps lildave/rvabiker. i was just in richmond a few days ago and spotted some kids locking up their bikes one stacked on top of the other infront of shafer, was one too cool to walk 5 feet over and lock it to a different tree/pole? is this a new level of pose that i was unaware of? did they just want to make their bikes seem taller to ward off predators? whats the deal

yés! thánks tö my fancy kèÿboard!

i use a messenger bag cause i'm a wanna-be not a look-alike …oh i guess both. and, i find it more useful.

LóFarkas 10-10-05 07:48 AM

Do you also have ö, ő, ü, ű, é, á, ú and í? Then you're ready to type in Hungarian...;)

travsi 10-10-05 08:12 AM

ö, ü, é, á, ú, í …damn i can't find the umlaut with lines instead of dots…

travsi 10-10-05 08:20 AM

…wait …?, ?, yeah. i just had to switch to a hungarian keyboard.

LóFarkas 10-10-05 09:08 AM

All the above characters appear in other languages: Spanish, Finnish etc. But I think we are the only ones to have ű and ő as well :D

Maybe they didn't all have locks. I don't know. I'm sure this practice of stacking bikes isn't native to the Richmond/VCU biking community.

rvabiker 10-10-05 10:39 AM

Tehz, what kind of bike do you have? I met a kid fom Va beach the other day with a track bike that he was worried he'd bent the frame on...you?

hyperRevue 10-10-05 10:44 AM

I'm just about done with my home-made bag. Took a little longer than expected, but I'm pretty pleased with it so far.

Or could it be that some of us roll up our pants so that the chain doesn't eat 'em, and wear bags that work for what we need them to do? I can't help it if messengers do the same things for the same reasons.

Just because messengers do things, and some people have a messenger worship complex, doesn't make those things any less practical.
