I'd think hitting a deer wouldn't be so bad, cushion right?

One day when I was in the Army during AIT my company was marching to the school house, when randomly a family of deer ran though our formation scaring the pants off of everyone. It was pretty funny.

A week earlier than that during PT I was running through the woods and almost got ran over by a deer. I think they're coming for me.

There are deer all over in Ames as well. I almost hit one last year about a mile up the trail from where I smashed the 'possum. The deer seem a little more wary that the bumbling opossums and racoons. However, they definitely use the bike trails as their wildlife trails at night. The deer I nearly hit was just walking up the trail when I popped around the bend. My 20W JetLite shined him right in the eyeballs--deer in the headlight! My buddy at work said it was during the rut and if I would have sneezed he probably would have charged me :eek:.
