Jamis 2k6 line-up
So for teh 2006 season it would seem as if Jamis has joined the fray of mass produced fixie action. Cant complain as it looks ratehr nice, reynolds 631 ea50 stem and bars ec70 fork...Blah on the TruVativ Touro's though. stealthly all black on colour scheme...obligatory bime messenger plug in the catalogue...havent seen a price yet. They also have a killer SS mountain bike too.
http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/6...0/DSC02531.jpg cant find a good pic of the mtb at the moment |
stupid thing is like $800 though, and none of the parts that REALLY matter (wheels/cranks) are any better than anybody else's.
|
got any pictures? or is the 2006 catalog online anywhere?

I did a little search...apparently it's called Sputnik. Jamis Sputnik that is. Allegedly road (<74 degree angles) geometry. I'd be interested to see what it looks like at the very least. I think Jamis is a fairly cool company - they have a steel/carbon bike (the Eclipse) that's pretty sweet. And they designed some new cruisers (Hampton) that don't look too shabby.

Somehow, 10 minutes ago, the same link that just brought me to the 2006 catalogue brought me to the 2005 catalogue... So basically I'm a ******.
|
Maybe its just me, but it seems like 800 clams for that bike isn't that bad.

I hadn't looked that closely at the specs when I first posted. I didn't realize the frame was so nice/it had formula hubs. My first impression was that they had put a fancy fork on it and called it a day. |
Look at that gross 80mm of risers. Gross.

that 80mm of risers is evidence of a bike company actually taking the time and effort to make stem height adjustable. They're helping you make your bike fit you better. Is it ugly? Maybe. Is it helpful? ABSOLUTELY! |
no way dude, 80mm is clearly evidence of a bike company that knows nothing of style and finesse. theyre probably a bunch of cheap ****rs too and didnt want to pay the slave wages any more money to cut them down and save on saw blades.
:D |
Welp, I have to say, that this bike [i]looks[/b] better than any of the other entry-level* fixed bikes out there. I have never ridden a Jamis, but I hear great things about them and came very close to buying a road bike of theirs a few years ago but the LBS didn't have my size. I was impressed with the frame and how agile it was and I think that the Jamis company really knew their stuff, or at least they did when I nearly bought this bike.
*I use the term "entry-level" loosely cuz it is 800 smackers, but you guys know what I mean |
hmm, where did you nearly buy it? none of the LBS in my neck of the woods (ok ok so there havent been woods around here for decades) will have any in until sometime in decemeber or january? i'd love to test one of these out.
edit: i didnt fully read your post, nevermind |
