Threadless to threaded

if my bike runs on a threadless fork and a threadless stem system, could i just get a threaded fork to change to a quil? or would their be a problem with my frame?

what size is your headtube? what would be the point?

you can probably* switch to a threaded setup, but you'll need a new headset, fork and stem. there are threaded headsets available in 1" and 1 1/8" (among others), so get a headset for whatever size headtube you have, threaded fork with the right size steerer, and a quill stem and you're ready to go.

i can't really think of a reason to do this other than aesthetics, and that's a big load of cash to drop for aesthetics.

* unless you've got one of them new-fangled internal headsets, then you're stuck with what you got.

I don't think it works - not sure. I know you can go from threaded to threadless with an adaptor but not the other way around.

and while not as "vintage" as the quill, the threadless stem is stronger & more reliable than my spelling.

like others, not sure why you would want to, but should be able to be done... if you have a 1" threadless fork right now, just pull it out, change out the headset (to a threaded one) and put a threaded fork in. one thing to note though is that you have to make sure the threaded fork is the right size for your head tube. it's not as easy as getting a threadless one and cutting it down, or putting some spacers in... has to be more exact.

but should you switch out the headset and get the right length and diameter fork, you should be fine.

What size fork do you have now?

There are headsets that allow threadless forks to use quill stems. We stock them.

And there are 1 1/8th quill stems.
