quick rim recoomendation?
 

something decent, mid-price, up to daily city riding, not high profile, pref silver.

any input appreciated.

sun assault or M13. cheap, durable, silver. any lbs with a J&B account should do it.

Mavic ma3...cheap, good and you will care less if your wheels are stolen...i liked them with surly hubs.

my r wheel is an IRO hub with a velocity aerohead wheel.

been riding it hard, daily for almost three months on some rough streets.

Second the silver MA3 - been rocking it for more than a month now at over 220 lbs plus load, and once I realized I could just go up and down curbs and my wheels wouldn't blow up, I did it. Totally solid on a Kogswell hub and extra added bonus if someone stole or damaged my wheel I don't cry about the $$$.

I have an m13 in the rear and a ma3 in the front. Both are extremly solid. Have been riding them hard for over a year now have crashed numerous times on them and they are just a little bit out of true now.

i have to second the IROs. as i've said elsewhere, i recommend spending some money on some better tires (i rock the panaracer t-servs "for messenger") than the kendas they come with (3 flats in 3 days...is there an award for that, maybe something that doesn't include the word "dolt"?), but the hubs and rims are solid, and tony knows how to build 'em.

i recently saw a video on old skool track where a guy was balancing on his spokes while lighting a cigarette, and i'm curious about his set-up...

...but then i don't smoke.

I'm using Salsa Delgado cross rims for my new builds. A little wider than most road rims, but they still have the box profile, eyelets, and are tough as nails. They are super-popular for 29'er offroad use, I figure they will handle being dropped off curbs occassionally.

i'll tell ya a secret, tony doesn't build the wheels, velocity does, but its all the same to em.

I built a few sets of wheels with assaults, and have no complaints. One is on my daily ride and they are going strong. They are deep enough to take punishment, but not as deep as deep-V's where weight begins to become an issue. Also, they are pretty cheap.

Only problem with the assaults is that the braking surface is eeny meeny. Need newish, fancyish brake pads, or no brakes at all.

mavic open sports have been good for my general nyc beatings.

DT Swiss RR 1.1's have been good to me. Not aero or deep, lightweight, strong, although i did eat one on an expansion joint, but that's just because i flew into it at full speed, and it happend to be a really large and deep joint that came to a point.

aeroheads are great. i have 2 sets and love them dearly.
