Making Headway :)

Today I stripped all the components off my frame and then stripped all the paint off. I used aircraft stripper and was suprised it was pretty simple although that stuff freaking burns! Then I dremeled off all the cable guides, a little nervewrecking but I got through it. Saturday I am going to pick up some paint, but I haven't decided what paint scheme to go with. I'm thinking a two tone, but not sure what colors and what to paint what. Anyone have suggestions? I've thought of doing the seat stays/chain stays/ and headtube orange, then the rest all black... Anyone have suggestions? Pictures of some cool (not hard) 2 tone pain jobs would be awesome. As for paint brand my grandpa told me to get Plasticoat or Duplicolor. Then if I use two colors he said for a primer use a neutral color, like gray. Is that right? Then i'll put a clear coat on it, sticking with the same brand as the paint.

THen on Thursday i'm ordering an IRO hub from Harris, and my grandpa is sending me a rim, then i'll take the rim and hub to the lbs and ask what size spokes i'll need.

All so exciting :)

I forget, is your frame lugged or not? If so then def go for the two tone. They grey primer should be fine just sand it prior to the first color coat. Also do many thin coats then clear coat. Lastly, when you are done get your arse downtown and come ride with us.

Lugged as in where all the tubes come together there is a little going thing there? If so, yes it is. I picked up paint today. I'm painting it all black except the seattube and headtube which will be chevy red.

I'm stripping the fork as we speak :)

Plastikote is definitely good stuff - I've got a whole bunch of pictures of the process of repaining my bike here: http://www.pbase.com/flippinghades/bike_nishiki_repaint

I used aircraft stripper too, and the colors are all Plastikote enamels. Masking lugs is a pain :)
