NYC weekday midday races

Any other non-messengers out there working in Manhattan who can't stand having to sit there all day long reading bikeforums? Sure, you could do "work", but when new posts on BF start running thin, wouldn't you rather get out & ride around a bit? I sure would. Just today, I shadowed Msngr on a few runs from Midtown to Union Square and back up the the Upper East Side. I'm thinking it has just made my day. And I'm thinking I want to do it every day. We could make a race, or we could just ride......

What about "adopt a messenger" day where you shadow someone for a few runs? um... I'm game to have someone follow me, also, I'd LOVE to see a midday alleycat.
I'm home sick today but any other day, Big Pink Gum Thunder whatever you call yourself- I'd like to know if this materializes.

Good. We'll see how many people are interested in this, and maybe we can have our first run this Friday. We can meet on the 6th Ave. entrance of Bryant Park. Convenient, since it's right across the street from my office.

I'll think about the format in the meantime.

How 'bout a run up 6th to CP, a lap or two and back? Following messengers around would have requisite stops and waiting while the msngr did picks and drops.

You could fake weekly doctor's appointments & come into Manhattan.

Laps *are* boring.

If a messenger is conveniently located & busy enough for us to follow, we could follow him/her. I was also thinking of giving packages to my friends (or to other people in your offices, maybe?) for us to pick up during the ride. Or handing out packages at the start to deliver to friends of ours. Making this perhaps the most work-like alleycat ever.

Pretty f'in ridiculous. Ya'll need to get some new hobbies ro something if you think "shadowing" a messenger is a good way to spend your lunch break.
