3Rensho Cyclone Track - NOS Find

I just posted this over in Classic & Vintage and it was suggested I put up the link here.

https://www.bikeforums.net/classic-vintage/147031-3rensho-cyclone-track-racer-last-nos-find.html

Not sure how to do multiple forum listings and hope it's appropriate. Enjoy.

that white is nice... and the first solid white i've seen.

My rensho should be back... TODAY! I'm so excited. I think it's actually the exact same frame, only smaller.

Unbelievable. NOS? It really just sat in a shops basement for all those years? How does that happen?

It is beautiful though!

some sit in boxes and just get put aside so when an employee ask about it . it normally , told "don't touch or put this in the corner". I know of someone finding a old Colnago with all Super Record in MINT NOS condition.

Yep, I used to work for Proteus Bike & Fitness in College Park, MD, who used to have Yamaguchi building frames for them in the early 80s. While I was there in the early 90s, there were a ton of Yamaguchi-built frames just hanging from the rafters in the back, unsold. Crazy.

No kidding? It really was a great shop... the College Park store was the original.. I mainly worked out of the store in Glen Echo, MD, but the CP store was fantastic. There were so many old goodies lying around. I was in there a few weeks back when I was visiting DC, and they've seriously remodelled. They still have Proteus frames around (including one smallish track frame) but apparently they're hiring a builder again with the intention of creating more lugged steel frames. Pretty cool.

Which shop did you find this at? And do you mind if I ask how much you paid for it?

Ceya- Sashae - maybe y'all can help here?
On the other thread, the owner says "San Ren Sho (Three Consecutive Victories)". I was told it's Three Circles. I'd feel like an absolute idiot if i'm running around not knowing what my frame says... what's up?

there's a #1 in each circle... looks like it could mean 3 consecutive victories.

<--- absolute idiot.

truth be told, i'm a native and naieve midwesterner, willing to believe anything i'm told. i'm betting a friend thought it would be funny to tell me the wrong meaning and see what kind of fool i would make of myself. as usual, a sucessful mission.

either way though, they make hottttt frames. whateverthehell the name means.

I just confirmed with one of my coworkers who is japanese. It means 3 consecutive victories, and based on my limited japanese and deteriorating chinese skills, its definately 3 consecutive/continuous victories.

Well, "san" means 3 and "rensho" means "consecutive victories." This is why it is sometimes portrayed as 3rensho. I don't see anything involving circles there, other than the logo.

san = 3, rensho(u) = series of victories, or, indeed, consecutive victories.

Wow, being of the type who likes old bikes but is like who cares if it's a genuine track bike, and would probably even argue that frankenbikes are more "individual" or whatever, now I'm saving up my empties. Jeez. And white on top of that, who likes white bikes? Ohhhhh. It's a real work of art. Thanks for the xpost, never woulda seen it.
