My First AND French Fixie

Okay so it's not done yet but I did get me wheels today and was so excited...I was ready to put it together but while inflating my rear tire...the tube popped at 75psi when it is to be inflated 110psi...so I'm taking it back to the bike shop ...anyway so here is how it looks so far...the cranks are not even bolted on yet, lock right & cog not tightened yet either...I did get a used brooks saddle yesterday.....I think she looks great...I need to buy some red bar tape...

Hey seaden that's coming along great. I like the color combo and the fact that you were able to get the red/black theme across the bike. Yesterday I finally decided on the colors for my fixie, but it's inspiring to see someone who is ahead in the process.

Sounds like you pinched the tube.
But yeah, I've been waiting weeks for this unveiling.
Very nice.

Fantomas 10-19-05 10:21 PM

Nice! :)

5star3 10-19-05 10:31 PM

what wheel setup is that?

what did you pay, if i may ask.

No I didn't...It couldn't have been my fault ;)

hyperRevue 10-19-05 10:34 PM

Haha, it took me about 20 minutes to realize that the bike was actually upside down.

This is a Velocity Deep V with Forumla hubs I got from Ebay for a little over $200

BTW I bought Soma cog & Shimano Dura ace lockring. I think I may get my handle bars chopped...but I'll keep these regular to see if I like them alright. I was planning to get track handle bars....but I don't really like riding low...I usually ride up top. I also got track pedals and will get some tow clips and straps....

Revit 10-19-05 10:38 PM

how much did u spend on that bike? it looks great! :)

francypants 10-19-05 10:47 PM

that's the same wheelset i ordered from ebay. i think it was ben's cycles. the ones they put on ebay are usually in 28 spoke configuration, but i called them up, and they were nice enough to build me a 32 spoke set for the same price. it's a pretty nice deal for deep v's and formula/iro hubs.

Eatadonut 10-19-05 11:22 PM

HOLY **** YOU MADE IT LIGHTER THAN AIR.

btw, nice ceiling carpet.

icithecat 10-19-05 11:54 PM

Are you heavy enough to bring that down to earth?
or
How long is your vacuum handle?
or
Are you related to ET?

food 10-20-05 12:09 AM

pardon for my ignorance, but what makes it french?

:)

Eatadonut 10-20-05 12:14 AM

it slips you a little tongue.

Actually, she's either talking about the make of the frame (motobecane), or the style of the bottom bracket.

The frame is french (Motobecane) and comes with some annoying head aches...but oh well....

Probably not...I don't even know what that is all about...plus I don't know if I will have my bike done by saturday for sure....

soyboy 10-20-05 12:35 AM

it looks great, i have to say that at this late hour the reversed picture gave me such a headache, i'm working on a motobecane right now as well

Jonny Pockets 10-20-05 02:26 AM

that color scheme is badass. You should do one of those fancy bar wraps using red and black wrap, like I saw in that other thread.

Poguemahone 10-20-05 07:00 AM

Very nice. Motos are well made and this one should last you well.

KirkeIsWaiting 10-20-05 07:07 AM

and so light!
It floated to the ceiling!

wangster 10-20-05 07:42 AM

FINALLY... it's looking good, you'll be even probably be even prouder once you start riding that baby around the hood. I thought you had one of those ceiling hangers, but couldn't figure out where it's attached... duhhhhhh... too early in the morning...better start working soon... what kind of tires did you end up getting? they look like kendas or rubinos.

shants 10-20-05 07:44 AM

frech bikes are, as always, the ultrajam
