Why on earth would you have front and back brake on the same side (unless you have a physical problem with your left hand)?

Which one sees the most action?

Nice stable of bikes you got. What ratio are you running on your SS mtb? Gimme a shout if you ever want to ride down here in Houston.

A couple questions about your setups (since you seem to be looking for them):

The Cannondale Roadie: Why did you keep an STI shifter/brake lever for your brake? Couldn't you find a plain lever?

Also, why are you leaving the cassette on? COMMIT OR DIE.

Trials/MTB bikes: Having both levers on the same side is baffling. Is it some Trials practice that I've never heard of? Just to make signaling in traffic easier? I'm seriously stumped.

Show more respect for what fire can do.

yeah, i have a physical condition with my left hand (its about half the size of my right hand, and the hand is semi-deformed, and muscle problems), and the best way to fix my problem was to put both levers on one side, which is normally unheard of, esspecially trials, i love riding bikes so much that i had to figure out a way to progress in trials, since most moves are done with the brakes

The STI lever for the cannondale just looks a little sleaker, but the main reason was i had moddified the lever to run both front and back cables through it, which would grab at the same time, but the rear cable finally had to be replaced, and i was happy with just the front brake, so i just left it like that.

the only reason i have the cassette on is becuase 1) its a free wheel, 2) if it was completely fixed, with my BB height and crank arm length and pedal combo, my pedal would be scraping all around campus

I would say my trials bike gets the most action, i ride it about every day, still with my physical condtion, i can back tire (jump up) about 30" and gap around 6.5' to 7' from a stand still.

my single speed mountian bike is a 32-18 ratio, i spin too fast on the streets, but its good for MTB

and for riding trials, there isnt much natural riding in college station, so we always ride on campus.

That explains a lot. But I still think you should just pick a cog and put in spacers on the cannondale. A full cassette on a SS is just ugly. It's cool to hear that you're having such success with your modified setups. I could never get used to both levers on one side like that! Way to be.

thanks! as i tried to say in one of the posts, its a freewheel, not a cassette, so if i threw a normal BMX single speed freewheel on it, i dont know if the chain would stay on or not because of the chain alignment

D'oh! Yeah, I guess I that went right through me. In that case, even easier. Get the BMX freewheel, respace and redish (if necessary).

good idea! i didnt think of respacingthe spacers and redishing, i have a few freewheels laying around i can throw on there, maybe that will be my project for today!

also, any advice on what i can do about my tube always going flat? its always at where the valve stem connects to the rubber, i tried to re-enforce the hole with some electrical tape, but still ripped, any ideas?

Hmmm, what valve is your rim drilled for? Are you using the correct tubes for the hole (schraeder vs. presta)? Is the hole smooth? That's the kind of question that is kind of hard to answer without being able to look at it.
