My dream bike would be plastic:D
The Trek carbon frame somebody posted a month or two ago, Lightweight track wheels with the low-profile ventoux rims (they don't make wheels like that, so I'd have to convince them to make a pair for me... Even their standard prive is $5000!), Selle SLR XP or Storika saddle (seatpost is integrated into the frame), Campy record cranks. Still have to decide on bars, stem, pedals and a lever for the Campy record brake up front. (So, I'd probably need a custom fork as well) Ahh, here's the frame thread: http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...ght=gotta+love |
Custom 650c Ti track frame with level hubs, Eason carbon track drops and stem, straight blade carbon fork, Selle Italia SLR carbon saddle, Easton EC90 seatpost, Ti Eggbeaters, etc
|
my dream stable would be...
the 3rensho i already have (njs build) jonny cycles slack geometry lugged steel fixed frame (should come jan) with chris/phil/superbe pro and then there's the road bike issue... i think either a ti crown jewel or a waterford lugged steel with full Chorus. |

THIS IS NOT AN IMPETUS TO A FLAMEWAR hopefully |
When I build my 650c track bike, it will get ridden like fecking mad.
|
i would definitely ride the circle a, and i hope to someday when i can afford one. i don't ride on the track, so campy worship is kind of lost on me, i need my bearings sealed.
|
did that make sense? i just meant that since i ride outside, in the ***** or what have you, the fancy track parts (carbon wheels, "loose" bearings) don't really do it for me.
|
an old Kingspeed frame
chris king head set (ti) cinelli drops and stem phill wood bb and hubs laced to wood rims (as in wood from trees, does anyone make them still?) with these cranks: http://bikecult.com/works/chainring/PMPcrankL.jpg yes I would ride that like crazy. |

that's just gorgeous |
So here's my dream. I find 25 thousand dollars. Buy one of two or three confente track frames close enough to my size. Get a builder (I'm thinking like our friend e-ritchie) to make a perfect replica. Have it done up like the original by the likes of cyclart (with a little "replica by so-and-so" on there small and classy.) Ride the hell out of the new one. Bring the original out for sunny afternoons. Build a little shrine to house it the rest of the time.
Now if only I could find another $24,750... |
