yep... about $5 or $7. does everything you need.

Regular long wrenches for me ... I can even remove pedals with them

I carry a 15mm park cone wrench. I thought maybe it would chew up regular nuts because it's skinny, but I gave it a try and so far I haven't had any problems. I don't use it when I'm home, but it's good enough if you're in a pinch. And it weighs a hell of a lot less.

just went to Menards (who love dumping poison into our wetlands, but hey, who doesn't?) and bought a five-piece set of ~7" metric combo wrenches for $3.88.

The 14 x 15 went into my bag, the rest can live in my toolbox.

I carry (when I remember) some of the flat Park Cone wrenches. They aren't the most sturdy, but they are small in the bag, and you can use them to work on hubs as well if the need should arise.

This reminds me-- my first year of college found me riding an early 80s Mongoose MTB that I'd found abandoned. All old school suntour stuff, and no quick releases. Well, I bent an axle and didn't know it-- so every day, several times a day, my wheel would slip forward in the dropouts and the tire would grind into the frame.

Tired of being stranded, I started carrying my ratchet, 15mm socket and 15mm box wrench around in my backpack at all times. Got old pretty fast when the snow hit.

Those of you with Paul or Phil hubs... Do you find that you get enough torque with the short allen keys found in most tool kits, and on the typical multi-tool or do you need to carry around something more substantial like the one Pedro's makes?

yeah, i've busted one of those dogbones too. same thing happened to me.

Hmmm... never had a problem with my dogbone over many many years, but the mutilation stories are starting to worry me... can't discount that many bad experiences.

I've got an old Craftsman Allen Wrench set I've had for about 8-9 years now. It's got a nice solid steel casing that you can bang on with a hammer to loosen stems or just grab tight and torque hard with your hand. It goes from a 1.5mm all the way up to an 8mm, so it covers the full range.

In my bag at all times:

1.) Genuine Innovations Road Pump
2.) Tire Levers
3.) Two tubes
4.) Multi-tool
5.) 15mm box wrench
