Ok, so here's the deal, I am looking for a 1" steerer quill stem, with a 25.4 open face clamp. I seem to be having trouble finding this. The profile design open face quill's seem to come from 26.0 clamp size. I know that it's possible to just go with the 26.0 but I'd like to find something that fits right.

That's a pretty unlikely combination -- 1" quill stems are old school, and open faceplate stems are new school. It looks like Salsa is going to remake its classic cromo stems next year, but the quill 1" version with open faceplace will fit 26.0 bars.

See this page:

To get decent selection, your best bet is to get a standard 26.0 open-faced quill and some shims for your bars.

with an open face, the 0.6mm doesn't really make that much of a difference.
I've got a set of B123's clamped in a TTT mutant right now and they don't slip.

if you're really paranoid you can get a $9 shim, or just make one out of a pop/beer can.

I do have a lot of pop/beer cans. I just don't want it to slip on the big hits (I'll occaisionally take a real jarring hit b/c I was paying more attention to some car than the road surface).

Just use a can from one of the better quality beers. The slippage/spillage will be less.

well... the 25.4 is the nitto size right? if so, I have the exact stem you're looking for. I think it came off of a 2001 khs flite 100. I suppose it might have been too big but I got the shim for it just in case and never needed to use it.

You might want to look into one of those quill to threadless adaptors. It opens the whole world of open faced threadless stems to you. They generally go from 1 inch threaded to 1 1/8 threadless. I got one for my mountian bike and it works great.

I'm rocking the same combo and it is solid as a rock. I had a bad bad bad head-first crash a month ago and the bars didn't move in the stem at all.
