Had the pleasure of using this cool ass phil spoke machine that they had at the shop here to cut my spokes to the needed length. Even had to take apart the machine a little to get some spoke bits out of it and do a little oiling and maintenance (which was surprisingly easy). I'm building up my first wheel, and going through the process of cutting and threading the spokes, made it feel like it was that much more "from scratch". Sorry for the ****ty pics...my phone doesn't work well under certain lighting (in this case...sunlight....*smh*).

I'm just getting the red X's...
|
wait i see 'em now
they look nice but not too strong |
They were up an hour ago. Cool pattern.
|
teiaperigosa,
How do you calculate the spoke length for that pattern? Is it the same as 3x? Dogbait |
Whee, my three/three wheel is all built now too. Looks so nice, congrats!
|
Dogbait,
it is the same as 3x...and that's why it should be theoretically the same strength as a 3x wheel..because the tangent angle from the spoke to the hub is the same for all spokes Judah, can you post pics? |
Not before it's unveiling in Chicago. :p
I'll post pics after that... |
Are the spokes on that wheel bent? Or is it just an optical ilusion?

The wheel is only laced, not tensioned or trued yet.
I've been wanting to build one like that for a while now. Just gotta get my arse down to the LBS to buy the stuff... |

from your pic it looks like you interlaced the spokes within each other...
if so you may want to reconsider unweaving them a bit as it creates a high tension spot which could lead to spoke failure. i had problems with this wheel which is now retired. http://www.geocities.com/christopher...e/P8030541.JPG |

will you sponsor me for the 2006 paris-roubaix classic ?
|
ther tension created where all 6 interwoven spokes crossed within a 2.5" square was too much.. which led to spoke breakage.
