I came across a guide which shows how easy it is to set up a photo/video mount on a set of handlebars:

https://www.camerahacker.com/build/Bi...ra_Mount.shtml

https://www.digave.com/videos/how.htm

I know that teadogg/monkey have a helmet cam setup, it would be neat to hear details on how they did this.

Anyone else have riding related photography/video tips?

Edit: https://velospace.org/videos, PM me if you want to see your stuff on the tracker

helmet cam is great when you like looking at riders butts. lucas's videos are rad because crazy things happen in front of him.

I just picked on of these up today. Best Buy had them on sale for $80 (normally $100)

It runs on 4 AAA's and stores the information on SD cards. It can handle up to a 1 gig card which convently I already have for my camera. I'm told that about 1 hour of film time takes 1 gig of space and runs the 4 AAA's out. I'll have to look into possibly more cards and rechargables. Oh btw its called the ATC-1000 by Oregon Scientific.

It comes with straps for you helmet or your bars. I'm going to look into mounting it on my fork or chain stay facing backwards too.

Kiecker: so the camera is a self-contained system? The card and batteries fit into a single housing? That is pretty cool. No wories to worry about, if it only costs $80 you don't have to worry about getting into a wreck with a $500 camera on your handlebars

Yep yep. Fully self contained and only $80 to boot. I'm not sure how long the sale is good for. It comes with 16mb built in. I first came across this product when some guys were using them at the track. In fact, take a look here at some of the footage that was previously posted in the track section. I'm in a couple of them. https://video.google.com/videosearch?q=ADT

Anyone from Canada know where i can find one of those Oregon Scientific Action cams? Or another self contained bullet cam like the Tony Hawk Cam ? Best Buy and Future Shop don't seem to sell them.

Also, if i were to make one of those bottle cap mounts, do you think it would be strong enough to ride on rough trails? I'm pretty sure the mount would stay on the handlebars, but i'm scared the mounting area on the camera will be ripped right off.

We used this helmetcam for the meet'n'greet race and for the 3rd leg of the tour da chicago,
and it works pretty well imo, although the microphone leaves much to be desired. We had it attached
to my digital camcorder, which was safetly tucked in a messenger bag, then
ducked taped the helmet cam to a helmet. I will make the torrents of
both videos available tonight.

There's a good thread about this helmet-camera in the commuting forum.
The guy wrote about his experience with the cam, pros/cons, even posted screenshots.
They look pretty decent. Anyone who's into this camera, do a search there. I may get one of these bastards too.

https://velospace.org/videos

Right click on "2006 TdC Stage 3.mpg" -> Save As

Open up the torrent in your favorite BT client and start grabbing it. Leave the window open when you are done so other people can grab the video! I will be seeding the video for atleast 3 hours until 4PM CST and then again around 5PM CST. After that I will be seeding it indefinitely. If you can do the same that would be great.
