Yea. To me it just looks like a mixture of everthing else that comes out of Taiwan. just with a fancy paint job

4nick8tor 11-15-05 12:53 PM

But wow, I can't believe you guys don't like this bike, are you sure its a Taiwan?

I almost crash my MX Leader once per ride when I get fixated on the "Belgium Handmade" badge...

LóFarkas 11-15-05 01:04 PM

I so wanted to love it... A Merckx track! :sigh: but it's ugly as hell. Sorry.

YellowFixedGear 11-15-05 01:18 PM

yea.. the only thing that bike has going for it is the name.
The slant in the top tube so too much for me. Slant it down rather then up and make it look a little less like a cyclecross bike and I might be into it. But then It would be a different bike.
A lot of the bikes comming out of Taiwan are using intergrated headsets.
Leader, Fuji track pro, fetish, etc... A lot even come out of the same factory.
also, using the name, it one would figure it would be a steel frame. Plus its gotta be that ugly orange color :)

for the newer ones, this is way better... but why bother, if it aint from 30 years ago?

jhnmrk 11-15-05 01:42 PM

drac vamp, looks like that blue frame would be a little floppy across the middle.

and as for the new one looking like a cross bike, i looked at the cross bike and the top tube doesn't even slope back on that one...go figure.

huhenio 11-15-05 02:05 PM

As practical that geometry could be I dislike it.

I like the slope going forward, not backwards.

Nothing a little bit of duct tape couldn't fix.

drac_vamp 11-15-05 04:00 PM

oh, yeah. not only a track bike but its also one of those folder ones.

bostontrevor 11-15-05 06:36 PM

Yeeeaahh... I'm not really feeling that. Like everyone else said, unremarkable and a waste of the name.

In other news, because I know I'll never convince anyone to spend $300 for a vintage Molteni trainer, I picked up this guy last Friday and pretend that it's the right shade: http://www.thenorthface.com/media/ge...A3-881_mag.jpg

Probably because a lot of people ride them on the roads. Sacrilege, I know, but deep drops on a Rush Hour just wouldn't be too comfortable.

Plus, they are a lot cheaper than nitto b123's or whatever the standard track bar is. The savings are passed on to you!

Nice. You aren't

Maybe it's because it's your size? Maybe you have to be nearly 2 metres tall and Canadian to understand?

That's good enough for me anyway.

bombusben, Is that a conversion of an MX Leader or a Eddy Pista frame?

I have an MX leader road bike in the Motorolla colors too, from '96 but my fork is different. Can't tell about the dropouts from that picture...

Eddy set the hour record using road bars.

It's a pista. It was Norm Alvis's (holder of the US hour record) back when he was on Motorola. It spent most of its life flying on the boards in Europe, but it puts up with going slow in Kenosha too. Still looking for a *reasonable* set of DA7600/tubes for it though. How's your MX set up?
