Really tight. So tight I can only turn left.

I got hit by a car (wear a helmet!). So now my beater's gone... How long does it take to get a Jonny made, again?

I find it really interesting that the wheel seems perfectly fine.

tink20seven 11-18-05 03:21 PM

daaaaaaaaammmmmmmn

that **** is crazy son!
glad to hear you're okay.
for what its worth... that frame looked nice!

BUT DAMNIT!!
WHAT IS GOING ON!?
WHY IS EVERYONE GETTING HIT RECENTLY !?

BostonFixed 11-18-05 03:27 PM

I think I have that same frame sans decals.

What kind of tubing is that frame made out of? (the sticker on the seat tube under the top tube)

are the dropouts stamped "kuwuhara"?

spud 11-18-05 03:29 PM

three lefts make a right

dolface 11-18-05 03:34 PM

sheldon sez:

"Soma
A short-lived brand of decent-quality bikes."

somnambulant 11-18-05 03:35 PM

is the frame borked? or just the fork?

ps. uhuhuh.. "borked fork"

r-dub 11-18-05 04:08 PM

if you look at the pics you'll see some pretty life-ending bends in the top tube and down tube

r-dub 11-18-05 04:09 PM

...and I've seen lots of bikes at our junkyard with perfectly true wheels and destroyed forks from front-end collisions...wheels are pretty amazing

Wierd Beard 11-18-05 04:10 PM

Looks very similar to what happened to me ! Strangely enough, my wheel was fine too 'cos I was trying to turn right when I hit the car... Are you ok? Was it just the bike that got forked?

drac_vamp 11-18-05 04:16 PM

nice headtube angle though, totally not-slack.

eyefloater 11-18-05 05:09 PM

**** man, just get a fork w/ about 60mm or rake and put that bad boy back on the road!

PS. *token "compact geometry" joke*

SpiderMike 11-18-05 05:15 PM

I had that exact thing happen Thrift Store beater I had many many years ago. Til this thread I racked it up as a fluke.

Hope your doing ok

CF4L 11-18-05 05:56 PM

just got back from a local race here. same exact thing happened to one of our riders. and i also thought it was crazy that his wheel seems prefectly true... odd.

also the driver that hit him offered to buy him a new fork and stuff. did the person that hit you seem cool with fronting your bill?

Paul And Pista 11-19-05 10:30 AM

Thanks everybody. Now I just need to think about a reasonable replacement for this. Maybe a Mark V. I'm going to get it to the LBS for an estimate, so I guess I'll see what happens.

That's just about right.

Seggybop 11-19-05 11:20 AM

I hit a car a few weeks ago and took the same damage. I had to flip around the handlebars and the wheel so that the wheel fit and I could ride it home. I thought it very strange that my radial front wheel took no damage at all while the fork and frame were dead.
