[QUOTE=ostro]ok...
• Since there is a rule that states "i" before "e" except after "c", isnt "science" spelled wrong? The full rule is " I becore E except after C and sounds like "a" as in neighbor and weigh". But that still doesn't explain why Science is spelled like that. The English language is screwed up. Can anyone explain why your mom smells like "ghoti"? |
my mom doesn't smell like fish. thank you.
enouGH. wOmen. reacTIon. |
yesterday over lunch, i solved all of the world's NP-hard problems, but I'm kinda shy so I don't think I'm going to publish my solution.

oh c'mon, don't be bashful, publish! (or at least post the solutions here) |
so you can publish and accept my $1 mil award? no.
but I am thinking about applying for a job at MIT as a night janitor -- maybe write out the solution on some hallway blackboard when no one's looking, meet a british girl, get in some brawls... who knows? |
quick question: how do you pronounce ciocc?
|
CHEE-oach (that's how i pronounce it anyway)
|
she-oh-shhh.
|
i concur but know almost nothing about the Italian language.
|
In your opinion (and I know that both versions are accepted), which is the first day of the week? Sunday or Monday?
Monday is the first day of MY week. |
i concur but know almost nothing about the basis for my opinion.
|
How about having the week start at the two second interval between 11:59pm on Sunday night and 12:01am on Monday morning? That way the week will start on both days.
I think if you are religious, it'd be whatever day falls after the "day of rest" for your particular religion. The day God (or Whomever) decided to really chill out. |
Surely, it end on a "-ck"? Now whether it's cheeock or chock, I have no idea.

Also the term "weekEND" includes sunday and monday. So having sunday be the first day seems silly. I know microsoft sees it differently though. |
My week starts on the first day of a job.

i have an actual bike question that might need a quick answer:
fork allignment (or, misallignment): I put my front wheel in the fork, make sure it is seated properly, straight, etc, and tighten down the bolts. The clearance is really tight, track fork, and I can tell that the wheel looks slightly off center when looking at tire in relation to the crown. You know? Anyhow, it's off just slightly, a mm or two, enough to sort of notice. I take the wheel off, flip it the other way around so the label on the tire is on the non-drive-side, nut it on there nice and tight, and it is still off center just a bit, only still towards that same side. I had figured if it was the wheel being out of true, it would dip to the left, and then when i flip the wheel that it would dip to the right. However, since it dips just a bit to the left each time, would that mean that perhaps my fork is slightly misalligned? If so, I imagine a fix is needed and pronto. Has anyone dealt with this problem? |

one thing to keep in mind is that it's actually written CIÖCC , not CIOCC |
Your fork is bent. Mine is also.

Freewheel on hayes has these nice alignment guides they make it very easy to realign the fork (provided it is not too bent). They look like two cones on sticks that you put in your dropouts. It took about 2 minutes to get the fork straight again. |
oh nice. perfect, actually. it's hardly noticeable, i can't feel a pull or anything when i ride. tracks straight. i just noticed the wheel being a little offcenter when i was pumping up yesterday. thanks for the tip, i should have just assumed it'd be an easy trip to FWhayes...

i move that this thread be re-named "win dolface's money (or bikes)." and that he be enclosed in a soundproof, plexiglas box...
|
i don't have any money (because of the bikes...)

nice find!
... and this is why you don't take pronunciation advice from unilingual Americans. |
hehe choch. Anybody know how to find and tell the date of a pinarello montello from it's serial number? I know this belongs in the road forum or something but i'm scared of those people.
