Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

i just hope there isn't any snow/ice remaining at that time. the lakefront path will then be of no help.

This sounds like another excuse for me to get rediculously lost. Can anyone clue me in on the distances to each of these checkpoints? Is there any word on how start times are going to be distributed?

this route should be almost the same as the first stage (22 miles). Maybe 1-2 miles longer.

If you follow the routes that google maps gives you...

1st leg - 2.9mi
2nd leg - 6.8mi
3rd leg - 9.6mi

For a total of 19.3 miles. Not bad at all considing 2/3rds+ of it is on the lake path.

Yeah. I would really like to know why this particular spot too. Blackstone Bicycle Works Is only about a mile away.

I don't know if anyone knows (or agrees), but Martin Luther King is a FANTASTIC avenue.

Would it be dumb to take King Drive instead of the Lake front?

I'd say yes because

#1 - lights
#2 - you have to ride West to get to MLK, which will waste time.

I planned out my route out, it's 19.921 miles. That last thousandth is a killer.

PS check out my new avatar...

I think my route will depend on how the wind on the lake front is that day.

Well, it's pretty much straight south of the fountain, so you don't
have to go West. But looking at the map, I forgot how far east
Hyde Park juts out. I may take the lakefront there and some other
way back just for sh*ts n' giggles.

I am probably taking MLK, but then again I placed 70-something last round.

What about the other leg of the course, the best route is the lake front path right? or is anybody going to just truck it down wells?
