Bikeworks NYC OK for parts?

I placed an order using the online form from Bikeworks NYC this weekend. So far, I've not received any confirmation from them that they got the order. Are they legit and should I worry?

they are legit. give them a call tomorrow if you're worried

FarHorizon 11-21-05 09:49 PM

Thanks, will do.

They are the best! Only thing tho is that they usually don't stock anything so there's a chance of waiting for a lil bit.

They are legit, a bit technologically challenged, but legit. Great shop.

ch0mb0 11-21-05 10:25 PM

if they have it, you'll get it. Call if you're concerned..

nothin' but love for those people up in that little shop.
we really oughta chip in and get 'em a little space heater for this winter.

I've got tons of VELOVE for Bikeworks. A great shop.

I've ordered from them... but always via the telephone.

hyperRevue 11-22-05 07:46 AM

I've ordered from them and love them.
Very friendly and helpful over the phone.
However, I do highly recommand calling them.
Their online ordering system is a little archaic.
I waited over a week last time without any word from them and finally called and they worked it all out and had the item in the mail the next day.

teiaperigosa 11-22-05 10:54 AM

they are tight...
call next time

ImOnCrank 11-22-05 12:09 PM

They're a solid shop, just don't expect anything close to speed on orders. I waited a month on a cog and my friend is going on three weeks for a frame/fork

thats the oldest lookin shop i've ever seen, they have very little to no heat in winter so they often have to close early or get frost bite.

Sorry to bump an old thread, but I just got back from Bike Works and I have to say these guys are the BEST! Sure there's 20 other LBS' between me and them and I usually hit up the OBS for stuff, but today I managed to pick up stuff the other super-stocked OCP roadie-centric bike shops didn't have: Cinelli celeste bar tape and a silver Supetype seatpost. This isn't the first time either. Ever since they shared space w/ a pedicab co. next to the Hells Angels headquarters, I've been able to get Avid SD2 brakes and levers, Brooks Proofide, Soma pursuit bars, etc. that other LBS' in the city didn't stock. I love that place. Plus I ran into the dude yelling at everybody in the Rumble thru the Bronx video.

visitordesign 08-31-06 05:16 PM

yeah. they're swell.

evanyc 08-31-06 06:33 PM

bike works is the ****. i love that shop.

chrisj 08-31-06 10:47 PM

I love me some bike works. They have built me two flawless wheelsets. Very friendly people there.

evanyc 08-31-06 10:53 PM

i think forum member msmercian does most of the wheel building over at bike works, and the wheels she built me in april are still perfectly true despite me not taking it in for a retruing after the first week or riding. it's just really obvious that the folks at this shop truly love bikes and riding and are passionate about what they do.

jyossarian 08-31-06 11:34 PM

Best part about them is they're all wrenches, not salespeople so no BS, just straight advice, no attitude. Plus they always got those odd things no one else seems to have or even heard of. If msmercian is blonde, she's probably the one I bought my stuff off today.

rodny71 09-01-06 07:52 AM

those guys are the best. you go in there and buy a 2cent nut and they'll treat you the same as the guy buying a $3000 paramount.

na975 09-01-06 12:46 PM

just dont try to get the price down on anything, he just kinda gets this werd look on his face and says nothing.

shishi 09-01-06 10:09 PM

they always have treated me real well, the wheelset rocks
