The deals won't last long, as I'm pretty sure they're getting rid of their Chrome stock.

Get 'em while you can!

They're probably only in their brick&mortar shops.

mine has held up for 2 years now. Through a couple crashes and a really bad orange juice spill. I like the design alot to. But some people think chuck tailors are to narrow.

I dunno. See, with a timbuk2 you can pretend you're more old-school. Like, "I didn't just buy a Pista and a chrome bag...I've had this Timmy since Chrome was in Short Pants. And I don't care if they're not the latest, greatest thing since sliced PBR."

I bought a Timbuk2 several years after every dorkward on campus bought one. Sure, I could have gone with something more "street credible", but I got the Timmy for $30 when Sports Authority melted into a pile of savings.

And it's just fine. Chrome bags are the new Hammer Pants.

oddly enough i have both a pista and a chrome bag. I picked my chrome up cause the LBS told me they were the bees knees and i have been happy so far. Try not to base your purchases off what will avoid hipsterism and what will give you more "cred"( i sure hope the above poster wasnt serious). Buy things you like because of the design and how you will feel about it.

OMG you guys I saw someone else iwth a chrome bag today so i burned mine and my pista also just in case... but the pista didnt burn it just changed colors into some wierd pyscadelic thing. At least now noone will recognize its a pista and call me out for my low count of street cred. I only have like 5 strret cred cards right now. Fu.ck me in the fu.cking ass pants.

I picked up a chrome citizen a few months ago to replace my timbuk 2 which was just starting to feel more and more uncomfortable. The Chrome's been amazing, totally waterproof here in Eugene Oregon way comfortable and it's sexy so no complaints here. Im going to be down in Huntington Beach in a couple weeks hopefully they'll have some left, i'd like to pick up either the Metropolis or the kremlin. Cheers. -CB-

I don't care much for Chrome or Timbuk2 bags. I have owned both and refuse to own another.....mainly because the straps slide too much and dig in to my side while riding. I'm a fan of ReLoad (yeah, hipster blah blah whatever), but they are local and they do good work.

yeah i got my timbuk2 on ebay in 2000 or so for like $20 new right before they blew the **** up.

hammer pants will always be the new hammer pants. hell, i just might order some zubaz right now.

i wouldn't want a chrome.. i think people would just hit the seat belt button and make my bag fall off all the time. i mean, i'd probably poke someone's....

Time to eat my words.

I went to Performance today to buy a water bottle and ended up with a $60 Chrome Citizen. Apart from the price, what sold me was the loosening / tightening system. So easy to use: tight this way! Loosen that!
No two-handed load balancing. No clutch thingy rubbing up on something and popping all the slack loose. I dig the flexibility of the strap material. And the quick release means no more cauliflower ear!

The Timmy has served me well, but the Chrome is more snug and natural-fitting. The shoulder pad is way better than the add-on one I bought for the T2.

In short...I love my new Hammer Pants!

Yes. For some reason we have to expect the word "hipster" in any thread that contains a bag in the subject.

On the point, I have had a timbuk2 bag for about 8 years now. I honestly had absolutely no idea that I was no longer hip until I came to this forum. That said, how pathetic would I be if my sole source of hipness was what I was told by an internet forum.

Cabana 4 life, please notice that the thread didn't start getting silly until AFTER the question was answered, and the factual information replied to. if somebody randomly walked in from the internet and was interested in 60$ chrome bags, they would have gotten all of their info in the beginning. Dont be so touchy.

Relax. If you actually read my posts, they're rather tongue-in-cheek. I don't sit around all day fuming about hipsters, but I do find gear worship / fashion a little silly. If I poke fun at it, please know that I'm doing while I stroke my new mess bag and scan ebay for neat parts: I'm playing along at the same time.

I mean, we're all here for our own reasons. Rest assured, mine is not to make your life any harder.

Anyway, my original post was trying to acknowledge that:

1. Timbuk2 bags are pretty popular amonst even non-bike-riding people
2. but maybe *not* buying the latest, greatest bag gives you some sorta silly old-school cred. Which is absurd.

And then I went out and bought a Chrome and admitted my own silliness. Don't take it too personally. Though I suppose you could ask the admins to start censoring sarcasm along with naughty swear words and allcaps.
