so, some stuff i've been working on came together tonight, and here are the results: njs sanshin (sunshine) hubs, njs sugino super-mighty cranks and chainring. they're going on the fuji.

(apologies for crowing about about this, but i'm super-happy, and nobody other than you guys would appreciate it.)

also, my lousy pics don't do the hubs justice; they are freakin' gorgeous.

Msngr 12-10-05 01:38 AM

nice hubs!

chicagoamdream 12-10-05 01:46 AM

Personally, I'm sweating the cranks.

531phile 12-10-05 01:55 AM

what spoke length are you using for those hubs and what rims are you using?

Portlandonian 12-10-05 02:16 AM

Are all super mighty cranks njs? I have a pair, where would the stamp be?

monkey 12-10-05 09:55 AM

Nice, dolface! Where'd you score the sunshine hubs?

chimblysweep 12-10-05 10:24 AM

lovely, lovely. your bike is very very lucky.

no clue on spoke length, i'll take a rim (araya adx-510) and hub to my lbs and let them figure it out

eddiebrannan 12-10-05 11:12 AM

jeez. lovely. wow

you found 36h araya clinchers? i'm so jealous.
ps- spokecalc is available online for free download. it's handy.

some super mighty's are road cranks made for double rings so, no. my guess is the stamp would be on the inside around where the length is stamped.

I don't think those hubs are in the database, but the rims are. If you don't mind measuring and inputting the hubs, then spokecalc would be a quick solution.

Very nice looking stuff for the Fuji. Dolface, asn't that the bike that you were building with the Dura Ace 10 group, though? If so, where are those pieces going?

jonb 12-10-05 12:56 PM

unbelievable. all vintage build?

Ceya 12-10-05 12:59 PM

If I didn't let go of my old Dura Ace grouppo , I would show you vintage both Italian and Japanese.

Good score DF.

CEYA!
Getting rid of the collection, not all..hahahahahahahahaha

techone 12-10-05 01:38 PM

Nice stuff dolface.

I've got 1982 njs DA hubs, cranks, and BB. Maybe I'll get pics up eventually...
Only reason I don't have a headset is I don't have a frame to fit it in and I haven't found an early 80's seatpost.

*sigh* no, i didn't, i'm a moron who seems be unable to count. :(

back to the search for rims.

jim-bob 12-10-05 09:01 PM

I like sansin hubs - the rear hub on my mtb seems pretty indestructible, and it's nice and smooth too!

Devotion 12-11-05 09:16 AM

I love those Sunshine hubs. Got one on my Somec and it's smoooooth.

suck. sorry about that. let me know if you find anything. i ended up giving up and just using freaking open pro rims.

then again, the ugly hollogram on the rim matches the absurd hollogram on the hub, so, yeah.

In other news, Mary J Blige is the new NJS.

12XU 12-11-05 06:36 PM

Hopefully the hubs' bearings are smoother than the finish. Flat metallic's just never done it for me...

huh? the finish on mine is polished, and the bearings are silky-smooth.

My eyes are registering a dull finish with lots of little scuffs. Polish = NOS C-Record.

Sanshin hubs are nice.

I've got an unused pair of Araya aero (the vintage name for V) rims. Are Araya rims a big deal?

If you're an NJS head, they probably are...
