Here's a few hints

a) do not cross thread things
b) tighten your cog and lockring, it isn't that hard.
c) if you can't do it right, don't do it yourself.

d) don't forget to lube

haha i love this! people really really shouldn't talk **** about manufacturers, these people make your parts, we need them! and 9 times out of 10 it's a user error, and then they deny it and blame a LBS or a friend: "my friend installed my new '____', i don't know what she/he did, and i don't want to read any sheldon brown and figure it out. what should i do?"

here's my fake "part maker sucks":

shimano cranks suck! i borrowed a friends wheel today and when i went for a ride the stupid cranks wouldn't stop rotating! what the ****! i almost died! shimano should just stop making reasonably priced components!

you guys are seriously taking this out of context... it was a small joke that obviously didn't get accross the right way. Read the entire thread and you'll see that. This is the reason most people hate this forum... because of jerk-offs like you, who pounce on anyone who make a mistake. You guys label anyone just getting into the sport as a hipster/idiot who should have known better... it seems like everyone here forgot what it was like to be new at something. You guys are worse than the ass holes downtown.

your title said miche sucked. your post was about how miche bottom brackets are poorly designed and prone to falling out and ruining your frame. you didn't use an excessive number of emoticons or post an image of pie, that broken record hub, or that large gentleman with the helmet eating the hamburger. either you're feeling silly about your post or your tongue was so firmly planted in your cheek that i don't feel at all bad missing the humour. good day.

*addendum* let's also not forget that while people came to miche's defense in the original post, they also posted useful information both trying to illuminate your situation and offering possible solutions. no one protested your newness, only your aggressiveness toward the manufacturer.

As far as being new:
If you are uncertain how to do something - check the internet first.
-there are a lot of viable resources out there if you dig hard enough

If you are still unsure, talk with your local Bike Mech (if they are open to conversation). If this is not an option, there is a "Mechanics Forum" on this website that has proven very helpful.

If you want to try something yourself without the proper tools or knowledge, be prepared for the worst.


Grease appropriate threads.
Tighten everything once, back it off a bit, then re-tighten.
Use the right tool/part for the desired result.


Even more curious is that the last, and usually biggest, F-Up comes from someone who cannot seem to master the use of the contraction in accordance with Englsih grammar.

dobber - stop being so acerbic and secretly envious of someone who can actually entertain and execute and original thought. Maybe if you are nice, people will want to talk to you. Luckily, I avoid your rapier wit because I was not an Art major. I sleep better knowing that.

Alright, I'd just like to clear a few things up.

I realise that I didn't give enough hint that the title was not serious. I thought that the question mark at the end would indicate that the title was more of a question, not a statement. The title was neither joke nor serious, it was intended to get attention... but not to upset people. Sorry. That said, while I do not hold miche in the highest regard, I do not hate the company either. If I did, I would not own any of their products and would definitely not have put them on my bike.

Actually I never stated that any miche products are poorly designed, I only questioned their design. I didn't say this but I don't think they are really the best products out there esp. their bottom brackets. I'm not the only one who thinks this... actually this very forum used to advise people to throw out the miche bb's.

I was not commenting on the replies in the thread I created (those were constructive) but on the posts in this thread. While somewhat informative, it has a pretty condescending tone. I feel like this is how a lot of questions are treated on here... and I'm not new... and I know not to cross thread and to chase threads and grease and where and...frame saver and...

Had this been in real life, the aggressive statemenT would have been followed by a laugh indicative of its intended humor. My appologies again for upsetting you and all others.

and maybe some charts to show which mfg's are compatible with which... and so on.

ya ya...but you know what I mean. One source is rarely enough and often the cause of confusion. Multiple resources help strengthen understanding, and sometimes offer new options.
