the email i sent them came back to me, and the phone just keeps ringing.

he might be on vacation. try again in january.

i finally got a hold of him.

Just so you know, Gene falls into the same category of peopole as Tony at IRO. They will bend over backwards to help the customer get what they need.

Yeah, i got that feeling after talking to him for about 5 min.

by the way, i have a spicer as my extra extra extra bike for when i visit chicago and i really like it. The geometry is SUPER comfortable and i hear they are really affordable too.

I just bought a used Spicer MTB, so I am looking forward to being able to physically verify the good reputation.

Spicer kind of has me confused though. They do custom frames, but also sell a lot of what appears to be chinese made stuff. Also, their prices are ridiculously low for custom work. Is it just because it's tig welded? Or is Gene just offering low prices out of the goodness of his heart?

Yeah, I bought my Steamroller through Spicer, and not only did they have the best price hands down, Gene really made the extra effort in making a good experience. I'll def use them again.

Are his custom frames made here, or does he send the specs to another country?

I think his Ti frames are made in China. not sure about the others.

a bunch of the customs are made in indiana

gene and jessica have been great with getting parts to me in switzerland.
spicer shall receive so called "props".

you leave bicycles in other cities for when you visit them? thats a good idea.

only if there's a good enough reason to frequent the "other" city, yes.

Gene is an awesome guy! I had no problems at all - and man, when he pads for shipping, he pads for shipping.

ps> in case it was not mentioned, the stickers are OVER the clearcoat and come off with no problem whatsoever.

not a problem, i dont check that thread nearly enough, so i miss out on lots of cool images; and i know not everyone gets their bikes on fgg
