^^ ugh.

gz_ 01-21-08 06:22 PM

god, get a bmx... with which you can do actual cool tricks like tailwhips instead of wheelies-with-arm-around-the-pole... although that move the big kid almost pulled off twice was almost cool

NewYorkMantle 01-21-08 07:08 PM

tricks on fixed gears is not only stupid (backwards circles and trackstand variations are cool though) but i think it will be nothing more than a short lived phase. a decade from now, bikers will look back and say "god, i can't believe people used to ride their nice track bikes into the ground with that dumb ****. what were they thinking?". once you get past the fancy skids and a few coordinated maneuvers, there just isn't enough variation to warrant the existence of an actual EXTREME FIXIE SCENE. sure, the few people who are amazing with this stuff (i'll give anyone credit for shear talent) will continue to do it, but as a whole, i have a feeling the MASH situation will lose steam fast and people will be left to ride track bikes for the one and only reason they should be ridden; to go FAST.

you just can't do things on that level with a track bike.

Agreed. If there were only some way to build off this go-fast aesthetic of fixed gear bikes... like create some platonic ideal of 'the street' in the form of a mobius strip or banked oval. I bet you could really go fast on something like that with a fixed.

bstrick11 01-21-08 08:47 PM

I feel ripped.... i did'nt get a flyer!
