clipless shoes?

Howdy... I think I'm going to funnel my xmas money into some clipless pedals and shoes. I'm liking the Time Atac like these: http://www.universalcycles.com/shopp...9&category=397 but I'm not sure what shoes I should go for. I was hoping to have a price cap of around $150... otherwise I would totally go for some Sidi Dominators. Some guy at the LBS was showing me some Specialized that were on sale for $125 down from $150 that I guess are pretty nice, but I was hoping to get away from Specialized. It would be cool to have a click strap like the Dominators though (the Specialized had that too) so that I don't have to worry about unreplaceable velcro wearing down.

Any advice?

hit ebay. i got a pair of dominator's from ediscountbike for around $50 this past summer.

If those are the specialized mtn comps or pros...they friggin rock. I love mine

there are a lot of ATACs on ebay, i got a older new pair for $40.
but they are a pain in the ass to service the bearings on. anyone know of clipless pedals where they bearings are easily changed?

i second looking on ebay for shoes. i was looking for dominators, but none came up in my size, ended up getting new diadoras that list for $150 for $40. hell of a lot better than the cheapo shimano lace-ups i'm sporting now.

I just scored some Specialized Road Comps for $22 bucks last night.
damn $18 shipping to Canada though.

Anyways, I second Ebay! yea!

Dude go with the ATACs. I'm a bigger fan of them than the eggbeaters.

I've yet to do it with mine, but apparently the eggbeaters are really easy to service.

Eh, I don't like eggbeaters, INKD broke one like a week after getting them....my specialzed shoes and SPDs have never failed me.

I am leaning towards the Times at this point I have to say... and I think I like the ebay idea as far as shoes go. The trouble is I go from size 11 to 12 depending on the maker, guess I should go into a store and try some on to find out what is the right fit then convert that to Swazi or whatever unit of measurement they use for shoe sizes on the moon. Size 46? Hahah, silly moon men.

i've got these http://www.performancebike.com/shop/...egory_ID=2110# and i loved them... rode them with speedplays... i've got wide feet and they actually fit nicely, look narrow, but feel alright... i was able to wear them for 6 hours at a time without having my feet cramp up...

however, they are real stiff (was great at the time) and after breaking my foot for the secind time i couldn't wear them anymore because they started rubbing against big chumks of bone that weren't there before... it's been a while, i could probably wear them again...

those look nice, and I had pretty wide feet too, I'm gonna have to see if my LBS can get a pair.

I have to replace my crank bros cleats every 4 weeks. I had to rebuild them once in the last six months.
I am switching to Time Atac pedals as soon as I find an affordable pair.

I ride eggbeaters on all 3 of my bikes. Love them. No problems and cleats last me thousands of miles... I have rebuilt many of which no other pedal is as easy. I rode SPDs first and had unexpected disengagment issues, I find eggbeaters to be super solid, plus they are as simple and elegant as your track bike. As for shoes i just picked up these on sale at performance. http://www.performancebike.com/shop/...slisearch=true
They are super stiff, very light and breathable, but not the greatest walking around, even with the eggbeater road cleats... for the city I use these...

Way more confortable off the bike.

I just got a pair of addidas Minnretts (06) that I paired with a first generation TIME atac from the co-op. I love it. LOVE IT.

Clipless is the jam.

I have to wait a couple of more weeks... just paid off my card and I like being debt-free for a little bit, but also something odd is happening, it was feeling like maybe my chain ring or BB peg was bent slightly, now I feel a little grinding and there's a clicking noise... the clicking noise seems to be coming from the rear wheel though. I just replaced my BB like two or three months ago, damnit!
