damn freewheels.
 

just rode the singlespeed i put together (took apart?) last night, just to see how it felt. i kept forgetting i can't slow down by backpedalling. anyone else have this problem when riding freewheeled bikes? it's kind of annoying.

not really, pedaling has an entirely different feeling on a freewheel and my brain kind of 'switches over'

hmmm. i catch myself quickly, but my first impulse is still to try and control the bike with my feet. but yeah, it does feel pretty different.

20 bucks for a cog should not break you. let go the darn freewheels

I like broken bikes better when they can shift, personally. Maybe not if I was into trail riding.

well, this wasn't my bike. but i'd fix it if it were. and i hope i'll be fixing it for the ownder eventually anyway.

I think that is what brakes are for.

of course...i'm just wondering if i'm the only one whose first instinct isn't to reach for the brakes anymore. i do grab the brakes, it just doesn't happen as a reflex action anymore.
