Fraud Alert: Berkeley CA: !!!!!!!!!!!Kai Matsuda Omafiet MomoVelo !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Fraud Alert: Berkeley CA: !!!!!!!!!!!Kai Matsuda Omafiet MomoVelo !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have been waiting long enough……..

OK... I hope somebody will let me know what happen to this Kai Matsuda or my Gitane Mixte....

Last summer (June 05) I gave Kai Matsuda my Nervex Lug Gitane Mixte to restore and repaint. He took the frame to powder coat shop and it never made it back to his shop and I think late August 05 he closed ho Omafiet shop and disappear.
This is what I know....
Around August 05: He just left the area and did not pay his rent nor take his stuff in the shop with him. The landlord of the space had no idea what happen to him, they packed Kai stuffs and put them in the storage. I left the landlord my info in the event that Kai might come back.

November 05: I stopped by the shop and asked the landlord what happen to Kai.. They said he has come back and took all his stuff and left.

I hope people in this BF community who know him will let him know that some one in BF is looking for his Gitane Mixte..

Thanks again…..

Going out of business is not fraud. Not returning a customer's bike qualifies as theft in my jurisdiction thuogh.

I did not want to use the Theft word but you are right bostontrevor... I don like to call anyone a Thief.........

Anyhow... I just want to pass this to BF people to watch out for this guy, Kai Matsuda.
I know he's a nice guy and all. But business is business...you can not take customer bike and keep it...

i'll agree that it's not cool that he still has your bike. the thing about kai, is that he's...well, a little flakey. he's extremely nice, and has pretty good intentions....i guess saying he's a little flakey is a pretty big understatement. did you fill anything out when you dropped the frame off, so he would have contact info for you? i bet you did and he's just...well, flakey.

anyway. i have a friend who is/was in the same situation, she left her bike there and then he closed and you know the rest. thing is, i think she has kai's email address, so she knows how to get in touch with him. i'll ask her the next time i see her (she's out of town, but she'll be back this week, and we have plans to ride) if she still has it so i can get it to you.

i will if she still has it, which she should, because i don't think she ever got her bike back...they set times and places to meet, but both of them are flakey, so he'd show up and she wouldn't, and then she'd show and he wouldn't...it's all very amusing really...except the part about kai having your bike. that part is lame.

Doing a whois, the email on the admin for momovelo is kaimatsuda@yahoo.com. The domain expires this year and it appears the phone number listed has been re-assigned to "Voulez vous".

I didn't check if the yahoo address is still valid.

May help, may not. Hope you get your frame back.

regardless of how "nice" someone seems when you meet them, if they don't give you back your stuff, especially in the context of official business, they pretty much totally suck.

Yeah, I'm "flakey" too, but I do my best not to **** people over. This goes beyond "flakey," in my opinion.

i hate the word "flakey"...why arepeople afraid to use the words incompetent, selfish or irresponsible? or just plain "if-you-can't-run a-business-don't-bother-trying" stupid"?

I wouldn't be the least bit surprized if Kai didn't have your bike but left it
high and dry at the powdercoaters.
I'm sorry to say this but given Kai's history this isn't exactly unexpected is it?
