I'm jumping ship. Gears and brakes here I come.

Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Show and tell? I'm in. Now she has bar tape, Look pedals, and some nice new Michelins.

Collegiate racing season starts this weekend too - hells!

God, I love those. If I wasn't getting such a hot deal on a Felt, I'd totally build one of those up with Chorus.

Maybe next year.

Yeah I heart S-Works. Nice solid aluminum. Minimal number of those ZERTS inserts (none after I replace the seatpost with a Thomson to match the stem). If it was good enough for Cipo, it's good enough for me!

I'm reviving this thread, cause I have a geared bike (well have had for about 4 weeks), the fixed ain't getting many miles in cause, it's well, it's trashed.

It pretty much kicks ass all over town, I love the ride, it's just awesome. It climbs really well, it's super stiff, sprints well, it just doesn't stop the rockin.

I've gots, some DA hubs laced to mavic rims (well it's a 10 spd in back, 7 spd era in front). The back is a mavic rim and the front is an old sup or something. The front wheel is going to be replaced soon, since the braking surface is pretty darn thin at this point.

The bar ends... well meh, I just didn't have enough money for some STI levers (they're flippin expensive) and I already had the brake levers and I just wanted a bike.

The only thing I can complain about is that the finish is pretty weak, I've put lots of chips and scratches in it already. I had to wrap the left chainstay in a tube cause it had already gotten so worn away from locking it up (sheldon style, so I was always rubbing that stay against the rack).

In conclusion, it rules, my single speed is effed, don't know when I'll be able to get it back together.
