debadging so to speak

i have an 06 fuji track, and the paint job is pretty horrendus as far as im concerned, i would much rather just have the plain old blue bike, without all the logos and "simply better" text all over the bike. So last night, i went to pull off what i thought was a decal on one of the chain stays, and ended up just taking a section of what seems to be some sort of laminate off the bike. What did i just pull of my bike?

I'm guessing a chainstay guard? It was on the drive side, right?

yep, sounds like you tugged off the laminate that protects your chainstay from any evildoings involving your frame.

also, before you pull off any more decals, you should check and make sure they haven't been clearcoated over. if they are, you can still make it work, but it's a pain in the ass. you'll need to scrape them off, then carefully sand the area down, and reclear.

it seems to fit all the criteria to be "an answer", yes. and this answer even seems to match the preceeding question--****in' rawk!

heh, "preceeding". i'm such a dumbass.
