Golden Gate park

Saw a lot of fixies today, it was a very very nice day. My ****** friend at at both hot dog stands ...

ostro 01-15-06 10:57 PM

we rode throught the park, you may have seen us.

helvetica 01-15-06 10:59 PM

I was with a guy on a black fixed mt bike, a guy with beard on a green/rust road bike and a chick on a purple bike.

I remember you.

Knobbies on the mtb, yeah? The chainstays and seatstays were a single run of tube.

I was the dude in the white helmet, camo shorts, green short sleeve over a white long.

We were all standing around near the hot dog stand.

hahahahaha yesss, man we did more eating, standing than riding. Yeah i remember because you were like the .5% of fixie riders who wore a helmet.

Its funny you should say...i have ridden by many a roady making comments on how they hardly ever see fixie riders wearing helmets. I always wear one.

BlastRadius 01-15-06 11:31 PM

I recall seeing the black fixed MTB but little else; I notice bikes more than people though.
I do, however, remember a dude with full Discovery kit and a sizable belly at the hot dog stand.

I've taken enough tumbles to decide that it's probably a good idea, almost certainly not a bad one. The lid I was wearing today was actually company issued, but after some consideration and imaginary conversation, the company and I came to the mutual conclusion that it would be best if their name was not associated with my shenanigans, so I scratched off the decals.

Just sayin.

Anyhow, I loved your bike, helvetica. That's a machine meant to get things done. Respect!

Dude, totally. And his kid (or grandson?) was also well-kitted. Start 'em early, that's what I always say.

I was riding the black road fixie, my friend had the black mt fixie, I had a UC santa cruz hoodie on.

My friend with the green/rust bike it was mercian, he got for free!!! he was talkin a bunch of **** about our fixies, but he had some problems with his gears and had to walk his bike on the hills to get to the park while we road up hahaha...

I wear a helmet when I go mt biking, I should have wore one for the city but I was in such a rush I forgot to pack beer.

Id like to ride with you guys.

[q]Anyhow, I loved your bike, helvetica. That's a machine meant to get things done. Respect![/q]

thanks its kinda ghettod right now, the fixed side is stripped and the cog is on the freewheel side with no lock ring, i havnt had any issues yet and i have a brake so im not too worried.

your guys bikes were pretty hot, and made me jealous, and really stood out comparied to the other ones. Ive only been riding fixed for a few weeks now.

Did you guys see that guy who kept trying to get his german shep into the seagul/sailboat pond, the dog got mad and tried to bite the owner..ahahjksadh

Fixed gears in Golden Gate Park are entirely inferior to the rollerskate dancers / freestylers. Hmmm, I'll be cruising through there on my way out to the Marin Headlands in about a half hour... I'll have to stop by and watch them. Totally makes my day every time.

helvetica 01-16-06 06:34 PM

I remember back in the day there was this guy on a skateboard he would ride down the slalom hill by the first hotdog stand on his head. also that guy who rides wheelies non stop is pretty badass as well.
