have any of you got one??? Id like to know how serious is it? since I have a DUI already... and for the anti dui my dui I was under 21, if you blow a .01 or higher its auto DUI, i passed all the tests and failed the breath. My main court date is on the 2nd, I hope I can talk it down to wreckless driving.

Never got one, but it is the same as driving a car... Same statues, same penalties.

I remember a local case of some dude getting busted for riding drunk. He didn't have a drivers license, let alone a car, and the mandatory penalty was revoking his license and a fine. So... The genius' downtown told him he'd have to get a license so they could suspend it, or face jail time for refusing to turn over his license. This was probably like 10 or 12 years ago at this point, but I remember as a gradeschooler cutting the article out and hanging it up. 'Cause I liked bikes and though it odd.

i can't remember the language of the DUI statute but i feel like it speaks to operating a motor vehicle. I always thought of it the way i (and apparently bode miller) thought of skiing: Its a bad idea but there are no rules against it.

It's serious (in Lakewood, Ohio anyway).
My friend got one after leaving a party.
He knew he had a few too many so he was riding home on the sidewalk.
He got a flat tire somewhere along the way and continued to ride (erratically no doubt).
The police pulled him over, arrested him for DUI, and impounded the bike.
He was found guilty of operating a vehicle while under the influence and served a mandatory three days in jail + lost his license for 6 months and had to pay court cost & fines.
I would advise you get a good lawyer.

this is a state-by-state policy question. here in DC (which, i should mention, is not a state anyway), you can't get a DUI on a bike, but you can get charged with something like reckless endangerment or drunk and disorderly conduct. not that i've ever heard of that happening.

i know that in WI you could get a DUI.

check your state lawbooks. it's worth knowing your rights before it happens.

I think its stupid, might be a good idea for some kind law punishing somebody, but hey, at least you're not driving a car.

when i was in 8th grade i went out with some friends to go cow tipping, but none of us weighed much at all and weren't particularly strong. the ground was also quite slick and mud-covered due to that day's rainfall. i ran at this cow (i was ~5'5" at the time) and stiff-armed the ****er right in the belly, but lost my footing and slid right under the ****ing cow between its front and rear legs. this happened to one other friend as well. we then became very determined and tied a piece of rope around one of the cow's hind legs and gave it a group, "tug-o-war" style, pull - up and out. we definitely got the last laugh that night.

yeah, they really are - once they wakeup. that **** was pretty fun when i was in 8th grade, but i don't think i'd do it again. my high jinks are on another level these days.

control is a good thing on a bike

if a cop has to tell you that you're out of control, then you prob should not be riding your bike (for your own safety)....because you're prob much less safe than riding drunk in a car (you could seriously injur yourself at very low speeds)

Riding while drunk is not a very smart thing to do - but I don't see why it should carry the same penalty as driving while impared. After all, a car at 30 mph is a potentially lethal projectile weighing over a ton while a bicycle at the same speed is mostly only a threat to the bicyclist himself.

Well, at least this dufus has no effect upon a potential for increased car insurance premimums. I did not know there were laws demanding we be motorists. does not sound like the land of the free to me.be curious to know how this turned out.for those not desiring a driver's license. wonder if riding while drunk. seems likely charge would be disorderly conduct? maybe that is a more serious offense?

i have been pulled over while drunk and didn't realize it would be that serious. i thought it was a seperate offense alltogether, but teh cop just basically told me to ride home so he wouldn't have to take me there.

I think drunk driving is bad and dangerous and all that but I also think that we as a society have given too much power to the law and MADD in general have gone berserk on DUI laws. And I mean you are basically being punished for something that you could have done not for something that you actually did.

Having said all that you really shouldnt drink before you are 21 there is plenty of scientific evidence to show that alchol in the developing body is a bad thing for addiction.

even though i grew up in the heart of suburbia, there was this strange rich dude who had a ton of property that he kept cows on. i am convinced that it was just for ****s and giggles, since he didn't have any milking or other farm-type facilities. it was kind of odd that i had the opportunity to tip cows in city-esque situation, but if you think it's an urban legend, you should go to a town in the rural midwest. it's the only thing to do out there other than actually ****ing cows and siblings.
