I've launched a new site that you guys may enjoy:
velospace.org What is velo space? A place too look at bikes, upload bikes and get free photo hosting. The site is geared towards bike fanatics of all types. I encourage you to sign up, upload some bikes, tag them up, explore the features on the site and enjoy. Things to keep an eye out for: new design, friends networking, etc. I developed the site with help from some BFFG people - a big shoutout to everyone who stepped up and gave feedback [esp. dolface and mcatano who spent some extra time with suggestions]. Check out my sig for an example of how to use the site (upload a bike, link it in your sig, etc). Edit: If you are looking for some pointers on how to use the site, here are a few links to get you started.

sort of off topic, but i always read your screen name as "Greg G"...if that's right, are you the dude responsible for fixed gear 101? i mean, on 63xc...damn good resource there for anyone who's starting.
|
haha, I am not involved with 63xc. I am "gregg" on here because "greg" was taken and people always ask if my name is spelled with two g's at the end. It is not. I am merely "greg."
|
i like it...
|
okay, just checking. i was gonna thank you (that site helped me a lot), but i thought i'd wait and see.
velospace is pretty nice, too. i like drac vamp's pink bike. |
Yesss! More ways to waste my time while at work.
|
the xml thing was a little tricky to figure it out, but now that I have its gonna be nice to have fresh fixedgears delivered straight to my newsreader. Booya.
|
128: I need to get that sorted out so I can deliver a cleaner RSS feed for everyone. Its in the pipeline.
|
Cool. I'd appreciate a picture in the feed of every bike, too :D Or even better the whole listing.
|
You write the PHP and you have a deal ;) PM me if you want a table dump
|
im too stupid to code.
|
Bump for the Saturday crowd! Chicago got blasted with some snow last night (3-5").

Nice site, I'm sure it's gonna be one of my addictions next to fixedgeargallery.

Our very own mcatano suggested a feature a while ago that I finally was able to finish (after much consternation and gnashing of teeth - this seriously took me about 1/2 as long as it did to set up the majority of the site):
FRIENDS! Now you can add Friends to your bike. Whats that mean? At the bottom of every bike you upload you have the option to add Friends and show your love for bikes you especially like. This is the simplest form of social networking, more features to be coming as time permits. Check out my velospace bike profile for an example of this (scroll down to the bottom). Woooot! |
congrats on getting it done!
rock! |
Gregg,
You've created something almost as awesome as Catster. Hats off. m. |
Its a work in progress, if the site is ever on equal footing with Caster I know I have succeeded.
I'm going to add a page to see who has befriended whom and whatnot. Not tonight, but soon. And the site should have a proper logo in the coming days! |
|
I just added a few more features:
1. You can now see what bikes are the most popular in the Friends system (http://velospace.org/friends), who has added the most Friends (http://velospace.org/friends) 2. On each bike page you can see who has Friended your bike (for example http://velospace.org/node/140#friends) |
man if not having enough myspace friends didnt give me an inferiority complex already, now my bike's a loser too. siigh.
