Are any of you in art school?

Just wondering.

ink1373 01-21-06 04:34 PM

i'm curious what percentage of the people who say yes to this also have an NJS frame.

please include your NJS frame ownership status with the answer to his question.

helvetica 01-21-06 04:34 PM

Whats NJS?

caveat audiens 01-21-06 04:38 PM

I'm sort of in art school - if you consider music to be art. I definitely don't have an NJS frame, though.

kludge 01-21-06 04:47 PM

in art school. and i hate anything njs. its over the top and uneeded. besides.....art school has taught me the virtues of DIY culture if anything so that means function over form. that means using the spray booths and HVLP guns to crank out a nice frame.....that even means debating the ownership of a formula/nashbar hub over a paul/phil woods hub(yer not going to the track....and you dont belong to the actual 10% of riders who NEED anything of that calibre)

skelly 01-21-06 04:49 PM

I go to art school. I couldn't care less about NJS.

soyboy 01-21-06 04:52 PM

i went to art school, i don't have an njs frame, would i get one if i found my size at a reasonable price? yes definetly

boots 01-21-06 04:57 PM

i'm a fine arts major, but i don't think it counts, as i'm actually studying urban planning. my handlebars are nitto and my toe clips are mks.

truth be told.....ive yet to see anyone at my school with anything njs....its all just a 5h!tload of conversions....and maybe a few vintage track bikes...the thing at my school is just to have a nice(esp vintage) road bike.

onetwentyeight 01-21-06 05:31 PM

I graduated last summer from RISD and I have an old british track frame, the only NJS components on my bike are the toe straps, clips, and chain tensioners.

i go to art school in savannah, but i have no idea what NJS means, so if someone could fill me in, that would be cool.

Ceya 01-22-06 01:33 AM

I was in Art school and have 10 NJS frames /bikes.

S/F,
CEYA!

NJS: Nihon Jitensha Shinkokai. They promote Japanese keirin cycling organization as well as set the standards which makes a bike/frame/parts certified to be ridden in Keirin races.

I was an art student for a couple years, then switched to pharmacy. I realized that I liked money. ;)
Never really rode during the art days though.

Jesse M 01-22-06 11:00 AM

i went to art school for a couple semesters, and then transfered out. i might transfer to another though. the only njs parts i have are sugino 75s and nitto bars and stem.

sxe fbm rider 01-22-06 01:44 PM

I go to art school for animation. I ride a french bike. My bars are njs...

Jonny Pockets 01-22-06 01:51 PM

I'm studying graphic design at Oregon State. I don't know what NJS is, and I am too lazy right now to find out.
