Who says you gotta be fixed to dodge peds...or get high?

I could do just as much damage to the "good reputation" (haha) of bicyclists by acting similarly on a $50 Wal-Mart rig.

PS-- smoke dope! ride bikes! be free! I don't give a ****!

I guess fixed gear riders also never reproduce. Good thing I had my kids before I got fixed.

No Timm. There is a group of SS/FG riders here that like the image of a rebel on a bike. You know, traffic laws shouldn't apply to them. But if someone calls them on that, they go on the offensive.

Likewise, there are plenty of people that view the SS/FG crowd as irresponsible thrill-seekers. The irony of all this is that I was not implying anything about them. I was merely pointing out that the driver being discussed in the original post may have the incorrect perception that Baiskeli was behaving in an unsafe manner, when he clearly wasnt. I also tried to drive home the point that this driver should be made to be aware that he could have left a woman without her partner, or children without their dad.

They see a bike they didn't know existed a moment ago whiz by an inch off their inside fender, they are likely to be angry instead f concerned, and yes some may even be violent towards the cyclist. Pulling out your wallet to show them pictures of your grandkids might not persuade them not to bludgeon you with the nearest blunt object.
Not my presumption, so let's get that out of the way. I was merely making a suggestion about educating a motorist that was oblivious to a cyclist. If you want to be critical of that advice, you are more than welcome to do so, as it's only fair. I can have my opinion, and you can have yours. But it's not my fault that some members here have a huge chip on their collective shoulders. Perhaps we need a "Trackies" forum to separate the wheat from the chaff?
