dustinlikewhat 01-25-06 08:58 PM

could be using an adapter head set, to switch from 1 1/8" threadless to 1" threaded... I think chris king makes one, devolution I think it's called

i thought the devolution was to use as an adapter for a different size frame so you can use an 1 1/8 fork. i could be wrong though...

crushkilldstroy 01-25-06 09:42 PM

1. i completely agree

2. i want to know the secret so i can do the same

3. good to see the use of the word wicked is alive and well in kansas

msneeri2@hotmai 01-25-06 09:50 PM

this is what i want to do to my bareknuckle. i've been told it is safe to do, i've been told it is not. i'ma gonna leave it to the pros at my local framebuilder...anyone with experience please make some noise tho.

TN! 01-25-06 09:52 PM

just emailed him and this is what he said...

"tony mistakenly sent me a threaded 1" fork (for the angus) instead of the 1 1/8" threadless. he offered to swap it out but i had a NOS dura-ace 1" headset and installed with a headset reducer. the straight fork looked better to me, didn't really change the geometry at all, and i could use a quill stem for that classic look .."

no secret, you just have to have threads cut into yer steerer. whether the steerer's strength is compromised is the ish...

i think it's a sox thing. seems like all of the bosox fans i know around here (which is actually missouri, but whatever) use wicked a lot.

back on topic though, why doesn't someone just email the dude and see what the hell's going on there? i'd do it myself, but i don't want people to know how much time i spend sitting on bikeforums talking about other people's bikes.

edit - someone actually did it. well played.

(edit) OOOOOOOPS, u meant the forks that was from the angus?

or the bike. cuz i thought u meant the entire bike....

queerpunk 01-26-06 07:12 AM

straight fork doesn't mean angus. just ask my mark v.

econobot 01-26-06 08:12 AM

I spoke with the owner as well. I'm sure he received plenty of questions and had a stock answer.

I wonder if there is any play in the fork at all?
