removing mark v cable guides is no small task
I decided to finally get rid of the cable guide "braze ons" on my Mark V. It wasn't as easy as I thought it would be. The cable guides are actually welded on - not brazed.
It took me about 10 minutes to cut each guide off with a hacksaw. I then spent the better part of an hour filing away what remained to be flush with the tube.
Then, after sanding, cleaning, taping and priming, I hit it with 2 coats of rustoleum black gloss and then clearcoated it.
Tentatively, it looks like they were never there, so it was worth the extra effort. Even without the extra steps, it's sort of a pain in the ass. However, I no longer need to worry about them tearing a hole in my pants and my legs when I skid.

i actually don't have my camera, since i'm visiting my folks. i decided to do this because i had access to my dad's workshop. i snap an after picture tomorrow.
