It is funny that the group defined as 'Pure' (Young, Urban, Crome Bag wearing, Fixed gear riding, Forum Posing) barely existed 10 years ago. Nevermind those roadies that have been riding fixed for the past 100 years.

Pure is my five year-old doing her first 'cross race on her heavy ass Target SS because it looks like fun running through the mud and carying her bike over barriers. Didn't care that she was last, didn't care what anybody thought. It was fun and that's all.

I wish I could be half as pure a cyclist as she is.

"'fixed' is just one of many ways to gear a bicycle, not a lifestyle."

stop. this is a stupid thread. it was a stupid post based on stupid arbitrary signifiers and now it's gone from stupid to stupider.

here's my minimum parameter for pure status in order to be counted (since this is what i do):
at least 24 miles a day commute.
all runs to liquor and grocery store must be ridden fixed.
chrome, re-load, or baileyworks bags only (no timbuk2--sorry).
no logos.

if you meet these minimum criteria, you are pure and can count yourself.

32:17 counts twice. :)

well i'm glad that i recently switched from timbuk2 to chrome, too bad i can't legally enter the liquor store yet

What if the timbuk2 bag is >10 years old? Any street credits earned?

Pureness = x + s^n + t^m + l*b

Where x = number of broken rims; y = number of wounds requiring stitches, n = average number of stitches; t = number of times in the dentist, m = number of teeth lost; b = bunny photos, l = number of pancakes.

You are such a tool!

32x17, the story about your daughter is the cutest thing ever. The ONLY thing I like about SoCal is the riding/weather. You can just hammer forever and ever. Last time I was in LA I tried some very nice singletrack in Malibu Canyons. Ended up cracking my helmet.

Enough internet geekdom for the day. Gotta go get my azz kicked in Brooklyn.
