watching quicksilver for the first time NOW
 

this movie is stooopid.

Heh. I still have to watch it. Maybe tomorrow night. Drunk style.

i've heard nothing good about it, nor have i seen any acting done by Kevin Bacon.

The acrobatics scene is fun. I don't think its worth the price of admission, but it was cool seeing people do hand stands on their bars in the alley.

that was awesome.

i want to see it for the bikes, not the plot or acting or anything else. plus it feels like an obligation somehow.

that said, lewhite said she wanted to become a messenger after seeing it.

other than lawrence fishburn, quicksilver blows.

I just watched "AMERICAN FLYERS" and rode the rollers for an hour, spinning my ass off. **** yeah, it rocked.

Kevin Costner, an Eddy Merckx cameo, a topless girl, and bikes! What else does a lonely guy need?

i love bad movies. i love quicksilver. plust the colorway of laurence fishbourne's raleigh is ****ing sick balls.

its great how the bike goes from big gear fix to freestyle 1:1 gearing to a coaster brake in the same scenes...

as for kevin bacon, i'll give stir of echoes some love

I sorta only like the movie for the SF-hometown-love, and yeah, the alley scene. Its a horrible movie to take seriously, but, a really fun bad movie. Outrageous cuts of San Francisco and LA as New York!--at least Cafe Trieste makes a cameo; too bad its for a stockbroker meeting though.

you need to put this movie in perspective.. bikes kinda took off in the 70's.. which led to breaking away ( a total epic..) .. and then nothing.. there was no internet, no fixed gear gallery, no nothing.. all i had was my local bike shop.. and the other nerds who hung out there.. so when american flyers and quicksilver came out in the mid 80s.. it was like finding an oasis in the desert.. so yea, you can rant on this forum, flip through endless bike pics on the internet, order some track frames, etc.. then rent a 20 year old DVD and toss a flippant "this movie sucks"... and im gonna say i think thats because yorue bike spoiled.. don't try and ruin it for those of us who rememebr the hungry days.. quicksilver rules.. as does american flyers, and the horse vs bike episode of thats incredible, and any episode of chips where some punk jumps a cop car.. sheaat.. i even like e.t. for the kuwahara's..
