Anyone had badluck with the stuff? My cheapo hub thread became semistripped so for safety sake I JB welded the lockring on. So far so good, but in the back of my mind I'm waiting for the the slip.

though for safety's sake, I'd throw on some duct tape.

JB Weld is ineffective against stripping. The lockring will be totally secure but the cog can still spin around in place and shred off all the threads. That doesn't mean it definitely will get stripped, only that if it is going to strip for some reason having the lockring fixed like that won't save it.

JB weld claims that it can, say, fix a cracked engine block. seems kinda ridiculous. someone should build a frame with JB weld, just to see what happens.

The threads for the cog are fine but the lockring threads were flattened. The lockring will still thread on though. So I used the Rotafix meth to secure the cog and used the JB Weld almost like you would grease on the lockring threads and threaded the baby on. It has held up to some skids over the past week or so..Of course I will be stuck with a 15 tooth cog..

The columbus carbon rear end of my steel road bike is "bonded" in with JB Weld. I was shocked when I found out that's pretty much how the big boys do it too. They might use hi-sol, but it's pretty much the same thing.
