quick/dumb lock question
doesnt really relate so this specific forum, but i know alot of you use kryptonite locks.
im filling out the key registration/warranty/protection stuff for my mini evolution u-lock and the form needs the serial number. ive contacted kryptonite several times with no response. theres not a number anywhere on the lock, and a few numbers on the box. anybody know if its one of the numbers on the packaging it came with? |
on the key?
|
im not sure. thats the key number for reproducing the key if needed. the form asks for a serial number and the key number, so i wouldnt think it was the number on the key
|
of your BIKE? i think that's what they want.
|
wow i feel dumb that that never even crossed my mind.
|
if its not that, and they need the key serial #s, it should have come with the keyring as a little metal tag stamped w/the numbers.
|
They need the serial number of your key. It used to be stamped on the key and now its on a little metal tag attached to the ring that had all the keys on.
I really preferred the old style while the # was etched on the keys. Now its a lot easier to mislay that little metal keyfob thing. That way should you lose a key, you can order a new one from them. They're pretty responsive. |
Alamo....sorry you had a hard time getting an answer from us...that's not like us...
qnat is absolutely right, if you are filling in the anti-theft protection offer information for your new Evolution Mini (thank you, by the way!) the serial number refers to the number on your bike. There is a spot a couple of lines further down on the form for your key number. fixedpip - good feedback about the key number tag. I'll forward that along to our product manager. Again, thanks for purchasing a Kryptonite, Alamo. We hope you like your Mini and that it serves you well. Safe riding. Donna |
Ya' know this brings to mind the fact that I was never contacted in regards to replacing my lock after the bic pen fiasco. I'm STILL WAITING!

MKRG - don't know where you are located, but if you are in the US and registered for the lock exchange program call our 800 number and talk to customer service today! The number is: 800-729-5625. If you are outside the US you'll need to call 781-828-6655, which is the same place, right here in our offices, and talk to customer service. If you registered, they'll have you in the system and can help you out right away. Hope that helps.
