Damn that thing is rough as a cob. Gorgeous bike though. I bet it'll look great when you are done.

yeah, it's been sitting for about 15 years, and it's been more than 30 since he raced it...

My dad rode my bike today and it was the first time he road fixed, he's a hardcore mt biker, also did a little downhill racing before suspension and does some road riding as well. It was hilarious trying to watch him get on the bike and get it moving, he said he didnt like it.

What a great project!

My dad pedaled three time a week up until he was about 70, when he had a bad biking accident where he shattered his hip, wrist, and shoulder. In the mid 1970s he was on an Austro Damiler Vent Noir. He's my idol! By the way, I'm a dad on a fixie too!

this thread has far surpassed my expectations. Glad there are soo many dads on fixies here. Any of you older dudes noticing any longer term joint problems from riding without a gear?

Where were all you dads at the Meat n' Greet?

mattface 02-02-06 09:40 PM

uhm... home with our kids?

Yeah that's one of the things about being a dad. less time to play with the big kids

Gurgus 02-02-06 10:25 PM

I'm a Dad on an SS. Does that count? I got two boys, one two years old and the other is 5 months old. They will be on bikes before they know what hit them.
As for me, I'll be on a fixie before too long.

i wish i could get my dad riding fixed, but he's got some pretty nasty arthritis... had both hips replaced a couple years ago. he rides mountain bikes though, which is pretty cool... he doesn't get the whole fixed gear thing though, he calls it "single track". perhaps one of these days he'll let me convert his old rigid giant ATX 780.

My son turns 8 on the 15th. I'm a single father. We commute together 5 days/week, rain or shine much to the chagrin of the motorists we encounter.

foureyedgeek 02-03-06 10:39 AM

proud.
