Those look like dirt drops with extra padding under the tape, maybe?

those look like the old WTB Dirt Drop bars.

wtb dirt drops with spit foam "10-speed" grips in the drops.

on-one has a set of bars are of a very similar shape.

they do, in fact, appear to be wtb dirt drops.

they look great, except they only come in one size and they're 58cm wide at the ends :(

wtb dirt drops, and the later copies were meeant as off-road bars for MTBs, so hence the large width.

salsa makes some cx dropbars with a bit of flare, if you're interested in the flare sorta thing.

Dirt drops indeed. I loved reading Matt Chester wax poetic on those. He's come to love the One One Midge's though. I think the Soma Major Taylors would be up your alley for street/road use.

I always wonder how mtb ss/fg people can stand riding with those 30/20 or whatever gear ratios- especially the fixies! Imagine the insane spinning while negotiating steep singletrack downhills.. The mind boggles.

Even with a freewheel, it just looks unfun. Do I just have amnesia? Was I that much slower when I used to bomb trails on my old Fisher?

Thinking back to my mtb days makes me really want to build up a cyclocross burner, with some midges ;)

Gearing 2:1 or lower is quite normal for offroad use.

I race my fixed 26" mountain bike on occasion, and run a straight 2:1, 32:16, gear ratio on it. Plenty fast. Anything more would have you walking up the hills.

Right, 2:1. But look at that thing. The rear cog is hardly smaller than the front ring. Of course you could ascend some crazy stuff, but as stated, you'd be spun out on a downhill at anything over 10MPH;)

Looks like a 34:20 or thereabouts to me. On most 29'ers, folks use an even shorter gearing than 2:1 to handle the bigger wheels. I've got a 32:18 on my SS, and I still have to go CX-style up some techy climbs.

that bike is stunning. that gear ratio is perfect for stuff around here...
