Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

here's what i wanna do. . .

i want an independent fabrications frame with phil wood bottom bracket and hubs, chris king headset, bullhorn or mustache bars. what kinda pedals (i like my feets strapped in), chain, crank, and wheels should i put on it to bring it up to the bling standards thus far set? i will be eating ramen for awhile in order to do this it goes without sayin'. lbs guy says i can do all this for under 3k. i have my heart set on this and will not rest until it is accomplished (i can't sleep at night anyway for bikelust--this bike is all i think about NIGHT AND DAY). so what should i go for?

MKS Sylvan pedals, Sugino RD cranks a nice set of IRO wheels, and you can buy a nice big bottle of soy sauce for your noodles.

i'd go for mavic cxp33 rims (cxp12 or cxp30 if you can find them)
cranks, da 7600
pedals, do you want clips/straps, or clipless?

that sounds almost exactly like my build up, except instead of IF my frame is Circle A. Phil BB and hubs, Chris King headset. For cranks I'm probably going wih Sugino 75's (unless i can find some american made cranks i like, but so far i haven't), rims probably Velocity Aeroheads but maybe mavic cxp33s. mks track pedals most likely. not sure what kind of seatpost, stem, or bars yet.

edit: mks sylvan track, not sylvan. my feet are too wide for sylvan
