Need some help ordering track/fixed gear stuff...
If you were given a $1500 spending limit, what track/FG products would you buy?
I may be ordering some stuff for my shop, and before I do, I want to see what components you guys look for the most. Heres my list thus far: -Some Sidi MTB shoes -Egg beaters, Time Atacs, FROGs, steel clips, straps (double, if I can find them) -Decent selection of Nitto, Cinelli, Syntace, possibly Deda bars -King and Campy headsets -Hubs- Level, Phil Wood, Surly, maybe some Velocity wheelsets -I want to stock a nice selection of Velocity's rims, mavic -Sugino 75's (and BB), Campagnolo Record -Izumi track chains, and of course DA cogs I'm still thinking about clothing. I'll have to work on that. Any suggestions would be great. If you want to tear apart my list and add other stuff, go right ahead. I'd like to get an idea of what you want to see when you walk into a shop. This is a rough list, size and colors are still TBD. -Chris |

P.S. Which shop do you represent? |
EAI cogs in a wide selection of sizes.
Unramped rings in 110 and 130 BCD. KMC chains- the 510h is good. If you're going clothing- affordable, unlogo'd wool and synthetic tops are good. |
I would splurge on the wheelset. Next to the frame, the wheelset is the most important and expensive part of the bike. I spent a lot of extra money to build my Phil Wood/Deep-V wheelset but i know that wheelset is going to last me a lifetime.

Kind of depends on the shop, but don't forget the lowend. Formula(You can get them badged IRO from Tony) hubs, even a Suzue cheapie hub, KMC 1/8 nickel chains, MA3s or whateve Sun has in the $30 range. We sell lots more of the cheap stuff than the nice stuff. People oggle the Mavic Elipse and then get the suzue/single wall rim wheels.

pay attention. as far as my LBS carrying nothing, i would like to see at least commonly replaced and smaller bits available: EAI cogs, chainrings in vairous BCDs, straps, clips, keirin grips, other grips, saddles, etc. tools would be nice as well, especially since most shops here don't even have a 1/8" chain whip to borrow. |
yeah, tools, especially that tool to hold the backside when tightening chainring bolts...

LBSes never seem to have a large selection of grips, let alone keirin grips. It's always hard to judge feel and color online. |
