"I'd been drinking..."

I recently noticed the number of threads describing bonehead things and a lot of them contain those (i'd been drinking) in some form or another. i just thought that was strange. seems like ss/fg forums kids are a bunch of drunks. but then again, so is the messenger crowd. not really making a point. just pointing out something i'd noticed. maybe less stupid injuries/mistakes would happen if there wasn't so much alcohol consumed. just a thought. (and don't yell at me for being a preachy straightedge kid. it isn't like that, and i fell unnasissted today. just pushed the pedal too hard and had my wheel turned to far when i tried to dodge a car. wheel kicked out and i ate it. for seemingly, to others at least, no reason.)

i agree, less accidents would happen if people rode sober all the time... but the accidents that happened would hurt a lot more.

There are few things in the worldmore fun than riding you're bike intoxicated on a late saturday night...one of my favorite pasttimes.

edit:I can't type sober either

killsurfcity 02-09-06 06:44 PM

ok, i got a story, i was at a buddies house and he was making rum and cokes which were really RUM! and (cokes). anyhow, i got pretty toe-up. i left his place at like 3 in the morning and decided i was gonna ride all the way home without touching my handlebars, from 3rd and dickinson to 20th and fairmount. so i did, and it was fun!

i think you forgot a word.

(not calling you a drunk, but i had to say something. sorry)

yay team alcohol!

xthugmurderx 02-09-06 06:46 PM

that is pretty damn far to ride and not touch your handlebars...did that include your stem? i can't imagine going that distance without having to stop. or being able to stop without using your hands.

TRaffic Jammer 02-09-06 06:50 PM

I was **** faced one night and was supposed be going to a buddies house. Alex I can't go I'm way to loaded to ride. No problem, he says gimme your key, I'll ride your bike, give me a head start you and the girls grab a cab.

Seems like a good idea.. I'll wake up and my bike will be there, AND I cab with two babes. So.......

WE start getting close to his house , maybe .5k away and we see him. I lower the window and we're all yellin and screaming at him. No slaps or touches. Smiles all around. Then from the back window I see him waving as we pass.....and then BLAM right into the back of a parked car..... up onto the roof and then rolls off into the street. He's fine, bikes fine, but I almost peed myself laughing.....he was still laughing when we turned the cab around.

Or the time I was cruising home........ had a good clip going.... feeling ill from bouncing all that beer around..oh oh, but I don't wanna stop. Ok just chuck as I ride, I am drunk afterall. I'm hurling .........all ok I'm clean ....but the people I'm passing who are waiting on the corner the bus.......splash on the shoes but it's like a fifteen foot line of people ....god what a sight it must have been. Once I realized what I had done I laughed my ass off and giggled all the way home. Still makes me smile when I think of that :p

haha alright tough guy. i've broken my arms 4 times, had stitches twice, tore my ACL and had replacement surgery and the incredibly painful therapy following, destroyed my ankle skating and running, and much more... i can deal with pain. doesn't mean i should have to!

TRaffic Jammer 02-09-06 06:57 PM

Straight Edge is fine...... preachy though?

matt_savvy 02-09-06 07:30 PM

this post could have used more earth crisis lyrics.

i've had the breakdown for firestorm stuck in my head since 8am. that's enough earth crisis for me. ask lumenredundas, i sent him a text message with nothing but "A FIRESTORM TO PURIFY!!!!".

OH, and block by block...

I like the fact that when I'm reading this I'm also rinking a 7.4%alcohol ale..

xthugmurderx 02-09-06 08:33 PM

you're from texas. i'd expect nothing less.

-jason

Ready to Ruck 02-09-06 08:59 PM

as if texas doesn't have more drinkers than the New England area?
We just have got better breweries.

humancongereel 02-09-06 09:16 PM

oregon's got a lot of breweries. and portland has a lot of drunks in it. and a lot of cyclists. especially fixies. and...drunks on fixies. like moi.

the other week, i rode from 46th and powell (southeast) to denver and kilpatrick (north portland). smashed. i remember getting really lost at SE 26th and clinton looking for a party that was actually ten blocks down and over. that's all.

not a funny story, but that's a long distance to ride drunk, and i'm wondering how i did as well as i did blacked out for almost all of the ride.

evanyc 02-09-06 09:17 PM

haha sorry, but texas does NOT have better breweries than new england.

and i'll take "get the kid with the sideburns " to "firestorm" any day.
