campy record track hubs (or are they?)

I've done a little looking over at campyonly and that timeline is a fine example of how not to lay out a webpage. Anyways, I am in search of a campy record track hub to match a rear that I have.

I would like to know the differences between the record high flange and super record high flange hubs. Additionally, what makes the road hub different other than the scewer (instead of track axle) and oil ports? Or are there oil ports on any of the hf track hubs?

Any info/ pics would be awesome.

Chuck Norris eats Suzue Jrs. and craps out Campy Records.

There are oil ports in some of the older high flange track hubs. Saw a NOS sheriff star hub set at a swap meet last week, they are gorgous!

The oil ports with black clip in the enter of hub are early Nuevo Records, then came Super Records without oil ports ( the flag model for years)

They are C- Records not sherriff star hubs , they came out in 1986 and have been the only Campy track grouppo since.

The grouppo has looked the same since day one except the engraving on the crank arms no longer done and large flange hubs are out also.

Road has a single threaded hub and track has threading for cog and lock ring.

Years ago you an ride the same hub for road and track only no lock ring. Now with cassette it is easy to tell.

So this is a neuvo record front hub?

And this is a Super record front hub?

The C-records (non sheriff stars) look the same as the above?

the top on is n-record, the bottom one is record/s-record. there is some debate about super-record track hubs; they show up in the catalog as having ti axles, but it's generally thought they were never produced (there are folsk who have said they've seen them though).

there is no difference between the steel-axle record and super-record pista hubs afaik.

c-record (sherriff star) hubs look different; much more highly polished for one thing...

Thanks for your help.

I realize what the sheriff stars look like. I am trying to find out what a c-record non-sheriff star looks like. I've seen the new low flange c-records. I've seen the sheriff stars. Are there hubs like the above high flanges, but with that silver band where the black oil port is?

ah! sorry, i misunderstood. c-record IS sheriff star, there are no non sheriff-star c-record hubs

Awesome. Thanks for your help.

uhm... C record is NOT "Sheriff Star"

It's clearly Texas Ranger Star!

WithNail 02-10-06 01:09 PM

my hf c-record hubs have the oil ports.

jrowe 02-10-06 01:33 PM

A better way to explain it would be to say that there is no such thing as a "sheriff star" hub. It's either nuevo record, record/super record, or c-record. Much easier.

Ceya 02-10-06 02:19 PM

Just all them what they are C-Record hubs not sherriff star hubs. yes where the hump in the middle is the hole for it. instead of being black it is just metal.

piwonka 10-29-07 08:24 AM

what is this one?
notice lack of record on the hub...as far as i know it is still just a record pista hub.

coelcanth 10-29-07 10:02 AM

that's an early version record pista hub ca. 1960-63

Here's the C-record groupset. Got the others on PDF, but the files are too big.
