Finishing the wheelset

I laced my first wheel (Surly flip/flop to Weinmann RM19, 36H 3-cross) a month or two ago, and now that my front wheel is dead, I want to lace a matching wheel. But, I can only find the RM19 in 32H. That's fine, I guess. But what lacing pattern should I use? I don't want to do radial because the Surly warranty is more important to me than hipster points (or whatever points radial gives. I forget), so I'm thinking just plain 3-cross. Or crow's foot? I don't know. I need some inspiration. Pics are more than welcome.

i'm a fan of 3x; easy, simple, and rock-solid.

36h rear and 32h front is a classic setup; burly rear and slightly lighter front. you could also do 2x for an airier looking front.

Yeah, I do like the look of a nice 3-cross wheel. I'd like to see a 36/32 wheelset. Should I go with 14g straight spokes to match the rear as well?

And (just so I don't have to start a whole new thread), since I'll get the Surly front for wholesale (I think), should I go ahead and order the flask?

i'd go with a 32 hole, 2 cross front, built up with 14/15 gauge dt competitions and brass nips. as far as the flask...i'd probably get the jethro tool first, if you don't have it already.

Wait a sec...The Surly front hubs aren't 15mm are they? Because if they're 14, I won't want the Jethro. The front's the main one I take off. Unless I get a flop to flip on my hub.

both front and rear use 15mm track nuts.

Excellent. Thanks.

another hijack...
i started/finished this wheelset after work last night...phil hubs laced to a pair of brown deep v's with a 3cross pattern on the front and rear.

OK. 3 cross 32H front, 3 cross 36H rear. Silver hubs, 14g straight spokes, Weinmann RM19 rims. And I'm good to go.
